Ethics competences in the undergraduate medical education curriculum: the Spanish experience.

Unlabelled: Aim .To investigate if there are differences in medical ethics education between different schools of medicine in Spain, specifically between private and public schools and between recently founded schools and older ones.

Method: The curricula of medical degrees from all Spanish faculties were reviewed for the 2014/2015 academic year, identifying subjects concerning bioethics, deontology, and ethics.

ResumenEste artículo explora el origen y la conceptualización de la bioética en tanto ética biocéntrica, definida por el pionero Fritz Jahr como un imperativo hipotético que llama a respetar la vida en todas sus formas. Tras describirla como social, técnico y académico, se enumeran y comentan algunas que debieran presidir el empleo del discurso bioético en cualquier punto del complejo social "investigación médica": miembros de comités de ética de investigación, investigadores, empresarios, administradores. Cada uno de estos grupos, en su "cultura epistémica" propia, define y explicita los principios básicos en tanto expresión de valores y leyes generales.

[Ethical Attitudes of Brazilian Medical Students and Graduates with Active Methodologies.].

The objective of this study was to conduct a diagnosis of the comprehensive inclusion of ethics in Brazilian medical training with a problem-based learning methodology and to describe students' and graduates' perceptions of ethical attitudes. The methodological design was a descriptive and documental case study with a qualitative and quantitative approach. The sample consisted of 20 students per course year, totaling 120 students and 40 alumni from two graduating classes at the ESCS School of Medicine.

[Social perceptions on genomics in four Latin American countries. Ethical-legal implications].

The authors analyze under an ethical and legal perspective the consequences and anxieties generated by the human genome project in the population of four Latin American countries: Argentine, Chile, México and Perú, through bibliographical analysis and interviews done to biomedical researches, lawyers and legislators, students and lay civilians.

[Commentary note on the Italian translation of the Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences 2002 Guidelines].

The new CIOMS International Ethical Guidelines on Biomedical Research Involving Human Subjects were published in August 2002. The aim of the present paper was to prepare a reasoned Italian translation of the guidelines. A preliminary version was submitted to a group of bioethicists and scientific research experts.
