In this manuscript, an oxidative carbon-carbon bond forming reaction to construct the framework of alkaloids such as scholarinine A is explored using a constrained substrate. Instead of the desired carbon-carbon bond formation between an indole C3 position and a malonate group, a competing carbon-nitrogen bond between the malonate and indole C3 position was observed to form. This work adds to the growing body of substrates for oxidative carbon-carbon bond formation and importantly, demonstrates that these reactions are challenging for some conformationally constrained substrates.

Design: This is a retrospective multicentric study of acromegaly patients followed from 2003 to 2023 in 33 tertiary Spanish hospitals with at least 6 months of first-line medical treatment.
Methods: Baseline characteristics, first-line medical treatment strategies, and outcomes were analyzed.
Electricity consumption is rising due to population growth, climate change, urbanization, and the increasing use of electronic devices. The trend of the Internet of Things has contributed to the creation of devices that promote the thrift and efficient use of electrical energy. Currently, most projects relating to this issue focus solely on monitoring energy consumption without providing relevant parameters or switching on/off electronic devices.

Yet, patients do not always interpret the intended messages on commonly used pictographs correctly and there are questions how they may be delivered on mobile devices.
Objective: Our objectives are to refine a set of pictographs to use as medication reminders and to establish preliminary steps for delivery via smart phones.
Background: The majority of breast cancer patients in Mexico are treated through the public health system and >80% receive adjuvant chemotherapy. The aim of this prospective study was to characterize the impact of the Oncotype DX assay on adjuvant therapy decision making and the confidence in those decisions amongst public sector physicians in Mexico.
Methods: Ninety-eight consecutive patients with ER+, HER2-, stage I-IIIa, N0/N1-3 node-positive breast cancer from the Instituto Nacional de Cancerología were eligible for the study.
Median arcuate ligament syndrome, a rarely reported condition, is characterized by postprandial abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and weight loss. Its cause is unclear. We present the case of a 45-year-old woman who had intermittent chronic positional abdominal pain without weight loss.

Here we use a coarse-grained computational model to address three factors that impact the stability of bcc and fcc crystals formed by DNA-linked NPs : (i) the number of attached strands to the NP surface, (ii) the size of the NP core, and (iii) the rigidity of the strand attachment. We find that allowing mobility in the attachment of DNA strands to the core NP can very slightly increase or decrease melting temperature T(M).

Methods: Information was obtained from 23 Centros Estatales de Cáncer (State Cancer Centers, CEC), two federal hospitals and Cancerología. This study was performed in Mexico City in August/September of 2008.
Proteolytic events at the cell surface are essential in the regulation of signal transduction pathways. During the past years, the family of type II transmembrane serine proteases (TTSPs) has acquired an increasing relevance because of their privileged localization at the cell surface, although our current understanding of the biologic function of most TTSPs is limited. Here we show that matriptase-2 (Tmprss6), a recently described member of the TTSP family, is an essential regulator of iron homeostasis.
