Interprofessional education (IPE) is a teaching method that improves collaboration and communication across health professions. There are consistent reports of poor interprofessional collaboration and communication between conventional health professionals and traditional and complementary medicine (TCM) professions. The application of IPE within courses that provide training in TCM requires close examination.

Balneotherapy comprises the use of natural mineral waters for health and/or well-being purposes. When balneotherapy is offered by the public health system, some countries with Latin-based languages call it social thermalism. The aim of this study is to compare balneotherapy in health systems of Spain, France, Italy, and Portugal.

Inequity in access to vaccines: the failure of the global response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This article summarizes the strategies used to rapidly develop COVID-19 vaccines and distribute them globally, with an emphasis on vaccines developed in western nations. It is based on interviews and information gathered regarding the response to the pandemic, both from international organizations and official documents from Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, and Mexico. While vaccine development has been hailed as successful, their global distribution has been highly unequal.

An unethical trial and the politicization of the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil: The case of Prevent Senior.

The Brazilian Federal Senate created a Parliamentary Inquiry Commission (CPI) to investigate the Bolsonaro government's irregularities in the management of the COVID-19 pandemic. One of the cases that drew attention was the research conducted by Prevent Senior, a private health insurance company, on the early treatment of COVID-19. The article analyzes the scientific validity of the research and the ethical problems related to its implementation.

[Evaluability study of the Multicenter Program for Professional Qualification in Distance Home Care (PMQPAD)].

With the implementation of home care in the Brazilian Unified National Health System (SUS), the need to train administrators and health workers led to the creation of the Multicenter Program for Professional Qualification in Distance Home Care (PMQPAD) in a partnership between the SUS Open University and the General Coordinating Division for Home Care, of the Brazilian Ministry of Health. Through courses in specialization, improvement, and self-instruction, the program achieved wide capillarity and scope in the country, with nearly 300,000 enrollments across all states of Brazil. The current study aimed to structure a model to assess the PMQPAD through an evaluability study with participation by the program's administrators.

Management of the health workforce in facing COVID-19: disinformation and absences in Brazil's Public Policies.

Brazilian Federal regulations referring to work and health education produced during the pandemic emergency of COVID-19, published from January 28 to June 2, 2020, were identified.

The outbreak of Zika virus infection in the Americas and its possible association with microcephaly raised several concerns among global health authorities regarding the organisation of the Olympic and Paralympic Games scheduled for August and September 2016, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It generated an international controversy over the continuation of the Games with debates on the ethical principle of social responsibility. Based on the principles of social responsibility and health in the Universal Declaration of Bioethics and Human Rights, the present comment ponders on the application of such principles in the context of mega-events and global health.

Access to health care as a human right in international policy: critical reflections and contemporary challenges.

Using the United Nations (UN) and its subordinate body, the World Health Organization (WHO), as a frame of reference, this article explores access to healthcare as a human right in international intergovernmental policies. First, we look at how the theme of health is treated within the UN, focusing on the concept of global health. We then discuss the concept of global health from a human rights perspective and go on to outline the debate surrounding universal coverage versus universal access as a human right, addressing some important ethical questions.

The use of placebos in phase III clinical trials in Brazil.

Its regular updates, seven versions (1975, 1983, 1989, 1996, 2000, 2008, 2013) and two notes of clarification (2002, 2004), characterize it as a 'live' document. The seventh version of the DoH was amended by the 64th WMA General Assembly, Fortaleza, Brazil, October 2013.
