Zika virus epidemic in Brazil. I. Fatal disease in adults: Clinical and laboratorial aspects.

Background: Zika virus (ZIKV) was first detected in Brazil in May 2015 and the country experienced an explosive epidemic. However, recent studies indicate that the introduction of ZIKV occurred in late 2013. Cases of microcephaly and deaths associated with ZIKV infection were identified in Brazil in November, 2015.

Resection of a juvenile nasoangiofibroma by Le Fort I osteotomy: Experience with 40 cases.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine the rate of success and complications of juvenile nasoangiofibroma resection by Le Fort I osteotomy.

Material And Methods: Data were obtained from the medical records of 40 patients with a diagnosis of juvenile nasoangiofibroma confirmed by anatomopathological examination. All tumors were resected by Le Fort I osteotomy between 1983 and 2010.

Evaluation of cases of pemphigus vulgaris and pemphigus foliaceus from a reference service in Pará state, Brazil.

Background: Pemphigusis a bullous, rare and chronic autoimmune disease. There are two major forms of pemphigus: vulgaris and foliaceus. Epidemiological data and clinical outcome in patients diagnosed in the Brazilian Amazon states are still rare.
