Objective: To describe the process of restructuring the National Expert Committee and its impact on the causality assessment of events supposedly attributable to vaccination or immunization (ESAVI) in the context of vaccine safety monitoring during the COVID-19 pandemic, 2020-2023.
Method: A report was prepared on the experience of creating and operating Mexico's National Expert Committee during the aforementioned period.
Results: During the 2020-2023 period, 1293 severe ESAVIs were reported after COVID-19 vaccination; after 98.
Rationale: Biologics are becoming increasingly important in the management of severe asthma. However, little is known about the systemic immunometabolic consequences of Th2 response blockage.
Objectives: To provide a better immunometabolic understanding of the effects of mepolizumab and omalizumab treatments by identifying potential biomarkers for monitoring.
The responses of seaweed species to increased CO and lowered pH (Ocean Acidification: OA) depend on their carbon concentrating mechanisms (CCMs) and inorganic carbon (Ci) preferences. However, few studies have described these mechanisms in the early life stages of seaweeds or assessed the effects of OA and its interactions with other environmental drivers on their functionality and photophysiology. Our study evaluated the effects of pH, light (PAR), temperature, and their interactions on the Ci uptake strategies and photophysiology in the early stages of .

Forty-six participants, comprising 23 cases and 23 age- and sex-matched controls, underwent urine analysis for magnesium, calcium, and creatinine concentrations. The exclusion criteria mitigated potential confounding factors.

Enteroviruses (EVs) are a large group of genotypes that cause a variety of pathologies, some of them very serious. This study analyzed the last 10 years (2014-2023) of EVs diagnosis and classification. In 166,674 samples collected, EVs were found in 9,535 (5.

Background: Human artificial corneas (HAC) generated by tissue engineering recently demonstrated clinical usefulness in the management of complex corneal diseases. However, the biological mechanisms associated to their regenerative potential need to be elucidated.
Methods: In the present work, we generated HAC using nanostructured fibrin-agarose biomaterials with cultured corneal epithelial and stromal cells, and we compared the structure and histochemical and immunohistochemical profiles of HAC with control native corneas (CTR-C) and limbus (CTR-L) to determine the level of biomimicry of the HAC with these two native organs.

In the central nervous system, they control myelination and overall brain development, regional gene expression, and regulation of oxygen consumption. Their deficiency in the fetal and neonatal periods causes severe mental retardation, due to lack of thyroid function, or to iodine deficiency.

Most patients present with early-stage disease, but a substantial proportion progress to myelofibrosis or secondary leukemia, advanced cancers with a poor prognosis and high symptom burden. Currently, it remains difficult to predict progression, and therapies that reliably prevent or reverse fibrosis are lacking.

We used genomic data from 3,963 cases and 3,509 controls from Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa and Uganda to infer ancestry-specific genetic architectures and fine-map disease associations. Fifteen independent associations at 8q24.

The considerable heterogeneity in molecular testing highlights the urgent need to harmonize practices across Europe and beyond, establishing a more standardized and consistent approach in MP laboratories. Professionals, especially molecular pathologists, must move beyond traditional education to cope with this heterogeneity.

It has been proposed that the underlying reason behind that effect is the so-called noncovalent interactions between the hydrated cations and adsorbed OH (OH). However, there is a lack of spectroscopic evidence for this phenomenon, resulting in an incomplete understanding at the microscopic level of these electrochemical processes.

Numerous studies have been conducted to identify risk factors for poor mobilization but there are no studies that identify good mobilizers. In our hospital, we decided to explore good mobilizers, defining them as those with ≥40 CD34 cells/μL on Day +4 in order to start early apheresis.

Methods: A multi-country, bi-directional, self-controlled, observational cohort study conducted in Colombia, Chile, India, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, and Qatar. Historical and/or prospective data from patients with SA were assessed 12 months pre- and post-mepolizumab initiation.
Objectives: Food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome (FPIES) is a severe type of non-IgE (immunoglobulin E)-mediated (NIM) food allergy, with cow's milk (CM) being the most common offending food. The relationship between the gut microbiota and its metabolites with the inflammatory process in infants with CM FPIES is unknown, although evidence suggests a microbial dysbiosis in NIM patients. This study was performed to contribute to the knowledge of the interaction between the gut microbiota and its derived metabolites with the local immune system in feces of infants with CM FPIES at diagnosis.

The drivers underlying those declines are many, complex, and incompletely known. Here, using a natural experiment, we report the first test of the hypothesis that forest defoliation by an invasive outbreak insect compromises the fitness of a native insect via damage-induced increases in toxicity of the forest canopy.

Offspring were assigned to either small litters (SL; 4 pups/mother), resulting in increased milk intake and body weight gain, or normal litters (NL; 10 pups/mother). On postnatal day (PND) 21, half of the male rats were euthanized, while the remaining were kept under standard conditions (4 rats/cage) until PND70.

Objective: The aim of the present study was to identify the risk factors for severe maternal outcomes (SMO) of women with suspected or confirmed infections using the data from the WHO global maternal sepsis study (GLOSS).
Methods: We conducted a secondary analysis of the GLOSS cohort study, which involved pregnant or recently pregnant women with suspected or confirmed infection around 713 health facilities in 52 low- and middle-income countries, and high-income countries. A nested case-control study was conducted within the GLOSS cohort.
Leaf senescence is a complex trait which becomes crucial for grain filling because photoassimilates are translocated to the seeds. Therefore, a correct sync between leaf senescence and phenological stages is necessary to obtain increasing yields. In this study, we evaluated the performance of five deep machine-learning methods for the evaluation of the phenological stages of sunflowers using images taken with cell phones in the field.
