In the flower development study, we identified SCI1 (Stigma/style Cell-cycle Inhibitor 1), a regulator of cell proliferation. SCI1 interacts with NtCDKG;2 ( Cyclin-Dependent Kinase G;2), a homolog of human CDK11, which is responsible for RanGTP-dependent microtubule stabilization, regulating spindle assembly rate. In a Y2H screening of a cDNA library using NtCDKG;2 as bait, a RanBP1 (Ran-Binding Protein 1) was revealed as its interaction partner.

Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation with Body Weight-supported Treadmill Training Enhances Independent Walking of Individuals with Chronic Incomplete Spinal Cord Injury: A Pilot Randomized Clinical Trial.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) combined with body weight-support treadmill training (BWSTT) for improving walking function of individuals with chronic incomplete spinal cord injury (iSCI). A 4-week, double-blinded, randomized, sham-controlled pilot study involved 12 sessions of real (10 Hz, 1800 pulses) or sham rTMS combined with BWSTT (15-20 min, moderate intensity). Walking independence was assessed using the Walking Index for Spinal Cord Injury II (WISCI-II).

Evolutionary features of microspore and pollen grain development in Cyperaceae.

Asymmetric meiosis leading to the release of pollen grains as pseudomonads is a synapomorphy in Cyperaceae, but differences in microspore development are relevant in the family's evolutionary history. Cyperaceae members present atypical microsporogenesis, in which one meiotic product is functional while the other three degenerate, culminating in pseudomonad pollen formation. Differences during development, such as pseudomonad shape and degenerative microspore positioning, are seen throughout the family, but no phylogenetic interpretation has been made regarding these variances thus far.

Reproductive biology of the "Brazilian pine" (Araucaria angustifolia-Araucariaceae): the pollen tube growth and the seed cone development.

In Araucaria angustifolia, the seed scale is part of the ovule, the female gametophyte presents a monosporic origin and arises from a coenocytic tetrad, and the pollen tube presents a single axis. The seed cone of conifers has many informative features, and its ontogenetic data may help interpret relationships among function, development patterns, and homology among seed plants. We reported the seed cone development, from pollination to pre-fertilization, including seed scale, ovule ontogeny, and pollen tube growth in Araucaria angustifolia.

[Self-reported morbidities and lifestyles of agricultural and non-agricultural workers in Brazil: a comparative analysis between 2013 and 2019].

Differences in the profiles of illness and lifestyles among agricultural and non-agricultural workers were investigated using data from the National Health Survey (Brazilian acronym PNS) of 2013 and 2019. The prevalence and 95% CIs were calculated for the following variables: self-reported morbidities, poor self-rated health, limitations of usual activities, number of NCD, major or minor depression and lifestyles. The Poisson model was used to calculate crude and adjusted prevalence ratios, by gender and age.

Exploratory study of humoral and cellular immunity to 17DD Yellow Fever vaccination in children and adults residents of areas without circulation of Yellow Fever Virus.

The present investigation comprised two independent observational arms to evaluate the influence of pre-existing flavivirus humoral immunity and the age-impact on 17DD-YF vaccination immunity. Flavivirus (YFV; DENV; ZIKV) serology and YF-specific cellular immunity was evaluated in 288 children/9-4 and 288 adults/18-49 residents of areas without YFV circulation. Data demonstrated that flavivirus seropositivity at baseline was higher in Adults as compared to Children (26%;87%;67% vs 6%;13%;15%, respectively).

The objective was to compare living and working conditions and access to health services between agricultural and non-agricultural workers. Data from the National Health Survey (PNS) on living and working conditions, sociodemographic, economic characteristics, and access to health services from a representative sample of the employed Brazilian population were adopted.

Perspectives on glucocorticoid treatment for COVID-19: a systematic review.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a viral pneumonia that can lead to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Until the commercialization of a vaccine, pharmacological treatment still represents an important strategy to fight against the ongoing pandemic. Glucocorticoids (GC) were widely used in the past coronavirus pandemics and have been used against the coronavirus 2 severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS-CoV-2).

Could cathodal transcranial direct current stimulation modulate the power spectral density of alpha-band in migrainous occipital lobe?

Objective: To identify the correlation between cathodal transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and the power spectral density (PSD) of alpha-band on the occipital lobe of migraineurs.

Methods: Firstly, a cross-sectional study was performed to compare the PSD of alpha-band in the occipital cortex of 25 migraineurs versus 10 healthy volunteers in resting state and during repetitive light stimuli (RLS). Secondly, the patients participated in 12 sessions of cathodal (n = 11) or sham tDCS (n = 10) over the primary visual cortex (V1) to investigate the alpha-band PSD.

Simultaneous determination of strobilurin fungicides residues in bean samples by HPLC-UV-AD using boron-doped diamond electrode.

The aim of this paper was the development of a method for the determination of six strobilurins (fungicides) using boron-doped diamond (BDD) electrode with amperometric detection (AD) homemade coupled to high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC/UV-Vis). HPLC separation of fungicides was performed in a C18 reverse phase column using both UV and AD detectors at 200 mn and 1.9 V, respectively.

At present, natural orifice specimen extraction surgery (NOSES) has attracted more and more attention worldwide, because of its great advantages including minimal cutaneous trauma and post-operative pain, fast post-operative recovery, short hospital stay, and positive psychological impact. However, NOSES for the treatment of gastric cancer (GC) is still in its infancy, and there is great potential to improve its theoretical system and clinical practice. Especially, several key points including oncological outcomes, bacteriological concerns, indication selection, and standardized surgical procedures are raised with this innovative technique.

In Bromeliaceae, various traits have evolved for the uptake and storage of water; however, their roles in bromeliad inflorescences remain unresolved. This study investigates the role of water in the flowers and inflorescences of Nidularium innocentii, and describes water as a protection mechanism. Individuals were divided into groups with and without water provision in inflorescences.

International consensus on natural orifice specimen extraction surgery (NOSES) for colorectal cancer.

In recent years, natural orifice specimen extraction surgery (NOSES) in the treatment of colorectal cancer has attracted widespread attention. The potential benefits of NOSES including reduction in postoperative pain and wound complications, less use of postoperative analgesic, faster recovery of bowel function, shorter length of hospital stay, better cosmetic and psychological effect have been described in colorectal surgery. Despite significant decrease in surgical trauma of NOSES have been observed, the potential pitfalls of this technique have been demonstrated.

Planning a One Health Case Study to Evaluate Methicillin Resistant and Its Economic Burden in Portugal.

Methicillin-resistant (MRSA) is one of the most important multidrug-resistant nosocomial pathogens worldwide with infections leading to high rates of morbidity and mortality, a significant burden to human and veterinary clinical practices. The ability of colonies to form biofilms on biotic and abiotic surfaces contributes further to its high antimicrobial resistance (AMR) rates and persistence in both host and non-host environments, adding a major ecological dimension to the problem. While there is a lot of information on MRSA prevalence in humans, data about MRSA in animal populations is scarce, incomplete and dispersed.

Dengue 4 in Ceará, Brazil: characterisation of epidemiological and laboratorial aspects and causes of death during the first epidemic in the state.

BACKGROUND The first dengue cases in Brazil with laboratory confirmation occurred in the northern region of the country, with the isolation of two serotypes, dengue virus 1 (DENV-1) and DENV-4. In Ceará, the introduction of DENV-4 was reported during a DENV-1 epidemic in 2011, with only two isolations. OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to characterise the first DENV-4 epidemic in the state of Ceará, Brazil.

Background: Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) can optimize beneficial effects induced by motor practice in patients with neurological disorders.
