The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to assess the success of pulpotomies performed on primary teeth using mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and other calcium-silicate-based cements (CSC). A comprehensive search was conducted in six electronic databases. The selection of studies was guided by PICOS criteria and included only randomized clinical trials that evaluated the success of pulpotomy in primary teeth using MTA, compared with other CSC materials.

Background: The formation of a reparative hard tissue bridge is a key indicator of defensive pulp response and successful vital pulp treatment (VPT); however, there is a lack of comprehensive information regarding the impact of bioactive materials on hard tissue formation.

Objectives: This systematic review with meta-analyses aimed to evaluate the hard tissue bridge formation in direct pulp capping and pulpotomies in humans, comparing the use of ProRoot MTA with other calcium silicate-based cements (CSCs) and calcium hydroxide.

Methods: The search was conducted in six electronic databases, until May 2024.

Objective: This study investigated the long-term (1-4 years) outcome of the endodontic treatment of teeth with apical periodontitis lesions performed by undergraduate students using a defined antimicrobial protocol.

Study Design: Treatment protocol included a crown-down instrumentation technique, apical enlargement to predetermined sizes and apical level, irrigation with 2.5% sodium hypochlorite, and intracanal medication with calcium hydroxide/camphorated paramonochlorophenol (CPMC) paste.
