This study aimed to assess the impact of flavonoid-based antioxidant application after in-office bleaching with 35% hydrogen peroxide on the shear bond strength of resin to bovine enamel, comparing it with 10% sodium ascorbate. Bovine enamel blocks (n = 10) were randomly assigned to one of five pretreatments: (i) no bleaching, (ii) bleaching without antioxidant application, and (iii) bleaching followed by a 1-min application of 10% sodium ascorbate, (iv) 5% naringin, or (v) 10% naringin. Color analysis was conducted using a digital spectrophotometer.

Palatine and pharyngeal tonsils are the first line of defense against pathogens. Clinically, two alterations may require surgical removal of the tonsils: hypertrophy and recurrent tonsillitis. The two conditions probably result from a dysfunction of the immune system.

Neurological events have been associated with ZIKV-infected individuals, such as Guillain-Barré syndrome, an autoimmune acute neuropathy that causes nerve demyelination and can induce paralysis. With the increase of ZIKV infection incidence in 2015, malformation and microcephaly cases in newborns have grown considerably, which suggested congenital transmission.

The objective of this study is to present the evolution of 5-year-old patient with MMC followed from birth with a proactive approach.
Material And Methods: This retrospective study included 55 cases with MMC of up to 5 years of age.
Bovine oocytes and blastocysts produced are frequently of lower quality and less cryotolerant than those produced , and greater accumulation of lipids in the cytoplasm has been pointed out as one of the reasons. In human adipocytes cGMP signaling through the activation of PKG appears to be involved in lipid metabolism, and components of this pathway have been detected in bovine cumulus-oocyte complexes (COCs). The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of this pathway on the lipid content in oocytes and expression of PLIN2 (a lipid metabolism-related gene) in cumulus cells.

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) remains a global public health problem with high prevalence rates and chronicity of infection. Present work aimed to describe the main mutations in the NS3 region of the HCV genome related to the resistance of patients to the currently available direct-acting antivirals (DAAs). To guide the study description, the preferred items in the PRISMA protocol for systematic review were used.

Experiments with animal models and in vitro systems have substantially contributed to our understanding of the pathophysiology of ZIKV infection. Here, to investigate the molecular basis of CZS in humans, we used a systems biology approach to integrate transcriptomic, proteomic, and genomic data from the postmortem brains of neonates with CZS.

COCs were matured with cGMP/PKG modulators and assessed for metaphase II rates (MII), cGMP levels, lipid content in oocytes (OO), transcript abundance for genes involved in lipolysis (ATGL) and lipid droplets (PLIN2) in cumulus cells (CC) and OO, and presence of phosphorylated (active) hormone sensitive lipase (HSLser563) in OO. Embryo development, lipid contents and survival to vitrification were also assessed.

It causes body composition alterations and a high prevalence of obesity. It is difficult to detect the most adequate indicator for a nutritional diagnosis due to the impossibility of recording accurate anthropometric measurements.

The purpose of this paper is to render an account of the experience of a group of healthcare providers and to propose innovative solutions for patients with Spina Bifida (SB) in Argentina. Based on our practice, patients reach specialists too late (40% already undergoing chronic kidney disease stage 1). However, several strategies were implemented in order to reverse this trend, among which were: the setting up of a professional network (via emails and Google groups), team training at different locations, videoconferences, and calling the Ministry of Health to action.

The effect of melatonin during IVM on meiosis resumption and progression in bovine oocytes and on expression of antioxidant enzymes, nuclear fragmentation and free radicals, as well as on embryo development were assessed. Cumulus-oocyte complexes were matured in vitro with melatonin (10(-9) and 10(-6) M), FSH (positive control), or without hormones (negative control) in defined medium.

They also act on follicle recruitment, proliferation/atresia of granulosa cells and theca, steroidogenesis, oocyte maturation, ovulation and luteinization. Among the growth factors, the growth differentiation factor 9 (GDF9) and the bone morphogenetic protein 15 (BMP15), belong to the transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β) superfamily, have been implicated as essential for follicular development.

Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) and feline leukemia virus (FeLV) are widely distributed retroviruses that infect domestic cats (Felis catus). Restriction factors are proteins that have the ability to hamper retroviruses' replication and are part of the conserved mechanisms of anti-viral immunity of mammals. The APOBEC3 protein family is the most studied class of restriction factors; they are cytidine deaminases that generate hypermutations in provirus DNA during reverse transcription, thus causing hypermutations in the viral genome, hindering virus replication.

In this study, we investigated the effect of tryptophan administration on various parameters of behavior in the open-field task and oxidative stress, and the effects of creatine and pyruvate, on the effect of tryptophan. Forty, 60-day-old male Wistar rats, were randomly divided into four groups: saline, tryptophan, pyruvate + creatine, tryptophan + pyruvate + creatine.

To study the occurrence of AGV2 in Rio Grande do Sul and the neighboring state Santa Catarina, a number of adult chickens (n=108 and n=48, respectively) were tested for the presence of AGV2 DNA. An AGV2-specific PCR was developed, optimized and used to analyze DNA extracted from clinical samples.

In the present paper, the effects of the combination of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) with piplartine or piperine was determined using in vitro and in vivo experimental models. Hematological and biochemical analyses, as well as histopathological and morphological analyses of the tumor and the organs, including liver, spleen and kidney, were performed in order to evaluate the toxicological aspects associated with different treatments.
