Aims: Resistant hypertension (RH) is a challenging phenotype within the hypertension (HTN) spectrum, requiring careful assessment and follow-up. Evaluation of left atrial function may be clinically informative, but is usually neglected. Advanced Echocardiography Techniques (AETs), such as Strain Analysis and three-dimensional echocardiography (3D ECHO) may be useful complementary tools to assess atrial function in patients with RH.

We studied the impact of field temperature on the emergence of Telenomus podisi Ashmead (Hymenoptera: Scelionidae) after being released as either protected (encapsulated) or unprotected pupae close to adult emergence. Two independent bioassays (protected pupae vs. unprotected pupae) were carried out in a randomized block experimental design in a 2 (parasitoid rearing temperature regimes) ×4 (release positions within plant canopy) factorial scheme.

Bees are fundamental insects in agroecosystems, mainly due to pollination. However, its decline has been observed in recent years, and the contamination by pesticides is suspected to be responsible. This relationship is the objective of our research, which is the first scientometric study on this subject.

This work aimed to evaluate the influence of temperature on the emergence of Telenomus podisi throughout the soybean development cycle, using encapsulated and unprotected pupae releases, in four different possible locations where pupae can be deposited during release. The trial was carried out in a randomized block design in a 2 × 4 factorial scheme: two parasitoid pupae release strategies (encapsulated and unprotected) × four pupae locations (between soybean lines of planting, bottom third, middle third, or upper third of plant canopy) with 5 replicates. There were no significant interactions between the studied factors.

Background: The effects of chronic inhibition of 5'-phosphodiesterase with sildenafil on functional capacity, ventilatory efficiency, oxygen uptake, pulmonary hypertension, and endothelial function in chronic heart failure (CHF) are unknown.

Methods: We conducted a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial to assess the acute (1 hour after 50 mg by mouth) and chronic (4 weeks after 50 mg 3 times per day by mouth) effects of sildenafil in outpatients with CHF. The outcomes were cardiopulmonary exercise test parameters (chronic effect), echocardiographic-derived pulmonary artery systolic pressure, and plethysmography-derived forearm blood flow (acute and chronic effects).
