Histochemical Characterisation of the Turquoise-Fronted Parrot (Amazona aestiva) Digestive Tract.

Amazona aestiva, a member of the Psittacidae family, belongs to the genus Amazona. These animals are endowed with adaptations in their digestive systems that allow a natural diet composed of seeds and fruits, with anatomical characteristics that facilitate the acquisition and use of nutrients from these food groups. Although it is an important species, no previous information is available regarding the histology and histochemistry of its digestive tract.

Analysis of VEGFR-2 and PDGFR-β expression in canine splenic hemangiosarcoma to identify drug repositioning candidates.

Splenic tumors are very common in dogs, and canine hemangiosarcoma (HSA) is one of the most important malignant splenic tumors. Surgery followed by chemotherapy (anthracycline-based protocols) is recommended for treating canine HSA; however, patients still do not achieve long-term survival. Therefore, this research aimed to assess vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2 () and platelet-derived growth factor receptor-β () gene expression in formalin-fixed tissues, evaluate the quality of mRNA for quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) analysis and identify drug repositioning candidates based on VEGFR-2 and PDGFR-β.

Enteric associated T-cell lymphoma in a mule.

A 25-year-old female mule weighing 336 kg was referred with a history of lethargy, abdominal discomfort, anorexia, and constipation in the previous 24 hours. On admission, decreased intestinal borborygmi and distended small intestinal loops were detected by auscultation and rectal palpation, respectively. On rectal examination a firm, irregular surface, and pedunculated mass were detected in the middle-caudal region of the abdomen.

Background and common lesions in the female reproductive organs of giant anteaters ().

The giant anteater () is a vulnerable species in South America and is considered endangered or near extinction in Central America. Therefore, studies describing the reproductive characteristics of this species are pivotal for its conservation. Thus, this study aimed to provide a morphological description of the female reproductive tissues of this species.
