Stem cell implantation holds promise for enhancing bone repair, but risks of pathogen transmission and malignant cell transformation should not be ignored. Compared to stem cell implantation, recruitment of endogenous stem cells to injured sites is more critical for in situ bone regeneration. In this study, based on the acidic microenvironment of bone injury, an HG-AA-SDF-1α composite hydrogel with a dual-control intelligent switch function is developed by incorporating stromal cell-derived factor (SDF-1α), arginine carbon dots (Arg-CDs), and calcium ions (Ca) into the oxidized hyaluronic acid/gelatin methacryloyl (HG) hydrogel.

The photocatalytic dearomative 1,4-hydroboration of naphthalenes with an N-heterocyclic carbene borane (NHC-BH) complex was reported herein with controllable regioselectivity and chemoselectivity. This protocol yielded a wide range of naphthalene derivatives bearing various functional groups, notably bioactive compounds. Hydroboration occurred through the cooperation of photoredox and hydrogen atom transfer via boryl radical addition to naphthalene and further selective protonation.

Mucosal-associated invariant T (MAIT) cells are a group of unconventional T cells that are abundant in the human body, recognize microbial-derived vitamin B metabolites presented by MHC class I-related protein 1 (MR1), and rapidly produce proinflammatory cytokines, which are widely involved in the immune response to various infectious diseases. In the oral mucosa, MAIT cells tend to accumulate near the mucosal basal lamina and are more inclined to secrete IL-17 when activated. Periodontitis is a group of diseases that manifests mainly as inflammation of the gums and resorption of the alveolar bone due to periodontal tissue invasion by plaque bacteria on the dental surface.

Nuclear factor E2-related factor 2(Nrf2) is a transcription factor that mainly regulates oxidative stress in the body. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to screen the differentially expressed genes (DEGs), and those that also possess differential single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) loci in the whole blood of AS patients compared with healthy controls by integrating two mRNA expression profiles (GSE73754 and GSE25101) and SNP microarray data (GSE39428) collected from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO). Using the t‑test, 1,056 and 1,073 DEGs were identified in the GSE73754 and GSE25101 datasets, respectively.
