Nitrophenols have received extensive attention due to their strong light-absorbing ability in the near-ultraviolet-visible region, which could be influenced by the atmospheric processes of nitrophenols. However, our knowledge and understanding of the formation and evolution of nitrophenols are still in the nascent stages. In the present study, the mixing states of four mononitrophenol particles (i.

Refractory high-entropy alloys (RHEAs) are emerging materials with potential for use under extreme conditions. As a newly developed material system, a comprehensive understanding of their long-term stability under potential service temperatures remains to be established. This study examined a titanium-vanadium-niobium-tantalum alloy, a promising RHEA known for its superior high-temperature strength and room-temperature ductility.

The nuclear modification factors ([Formula: see text]) of d and [Formula: see text] have been studied using the parton and hadron cascade model plus the dynamically constrained phase space coalescence model in peripheral (40-60%) and central (0-5%) Pb-Pb collisions at [Formula: see text] with [Formula: see text]. It is found that the [Formula: see text] of [Formula: see text] is similar to that of hadrons ([Formula: see text]) and the [Formula: see text] of antiparticles is the same as that of particles. The suppression effect of d is more significant than that of baryons and mesons in the high-[Formula: see text] region.

Mass transport driven by temperature gradient is commonly seen in fluids. However, here we demonstrate that when drawing a cold nano-tip off a hot solid substrate, thermomigration can be so rampant that it can be exploited for producing single-crystalline aluminum, copper, silver and tin nanowires. This demonstrates that in nanoscale objects, solids can mimic liquids in rapid morphological changes, by virtue of fast surface diffusion across short distances.

Laryngocarcinoma is the most common head and neck cancer and has a high incidence and mortality, causing about 83 000 deaths per year worldwide. Our research aimed to investigate the possible role of long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) taurine upregulated gene 1 (TUG1) in laryngocarcinoma development. The messenger RNA (mRNA) levels of TUG1 in tumor tissues and control (plasma) samples of laryngocarcinoma patients as well as in laryngocarcinoma cells were detected.

Article Synopsis
  • A study in Taiyuan city analyzed PM2.5 during the heating season to understand heavy metal concentrations and their ecological risks, finding that major elements included Si, Ca, Al, Na, Mg, K, and Fe.
  • The main contributors to PM2.5 pollution were identified as soil dust (43.46%), coal burning (15.69%), vehicle emissions (13.41%), industrial dust (9.89%), and construction cement dust (9.03%).
  • The ecological risk from heavy metals was high, especially for children, with potential non-carcinogenic health risks linked primarily to respiratory inhalation, and metals were ranked in order of risk from Cd to Mn

Article Synopsis
  • PM10 samples were collected in Xinzhou during both the heating and non-heating periods of 2011 to analyze carbonaceous aerosol pollution, focusing on organic carbon (OC) and elemental carbon (EC) concentrations.
  • The study found that total carbon aerosol (TCA) made up 70.7% of PM10 during heating and 43.8% during non-heating, with higher OC and EC levels recorded during heating, indicating coal combustion as the main pollution source.
  • The OC/EC ratios remained below 2, suggesting primary pollution was dominant, and a strong correlation between OC and EC during non-heating (R2=0.55) pointed to vehicle exhaust as a significant factor, while weaker correlation

A series of Zn/M-NO3-LDHs (M=Al, Fe, Ti, and Fe/Ti) have been synthesized by two different methods, and their activities for visible-light photocatalytic degradation on Rhodamine B (RB) were tested. Solids were analyzed by XRD, FT-IR, and ICP characterization, confirming the formation of pure LDH phase with good crystal structure. It was observed that the band gap of these nitrate LDH materials was following this order: Zn/Fe-NO3-LDHs (2.

Original and effective syntheses of crystalline silver wires and saw bundles, using reduced Keggin polyoxomolybdovanadate (POM) as mediator and reducing agent, were performed in acetonitrile at room temperature; several parameters influencing the final silver 1D-structures, with micrometric length and nanometric thickness, were varied: the nature of the POM, silver salts, vanadium(iv) source and the mild conditions.

Silver atoms and strongly interlinking Keggin units ensure the tridimensionnal macrocationic structure of [Ag(6)(PMo(10)V(2)O(40))](CH(3)COO).8H(2)O, which catalyzes O(2)-based oxidation of p-methoxytoluene in acetic acid by air.
