Article Synopsis
  • * A study found that all participants had DP in their handwipe and serum samples, with significant levels indicating widespread exposure, and a notable correlation between the amount on skin and in blood.
  • * The estimated skin absorption of DP was about 9.54%, contributing significantly to internal exposure, and concern over the very high serum levels underscores the need for ongoing monitoring of these workers’ health.

Objective: The study aimed to explore the risk factors for hyperuricemia (HUA) in the Naxi ethnic population residing in high-altitude areas of Yunnan, China, and assess the clinical value of the triglyceride/high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (TG/HDL-c) ratio as a diagnostic marker.

Methods: In this cross-sectional study, clinical data were collected from the health checkup population in the People's Hospital of Yulong Naxi Autonomous County, Yunnan Province, from January 2021 to January 2023. Participants were divided into quartiles based on the TG/HDL-c ratio (Q1, Q2, Q3, and Q4) for group analysis using chi-square tests, -tests, and rank sum tests.

Article Synopsis
  • The study introduces a composite aerogel made from molybdenum disulphide (MoS) and MXene, designed for interfacial solar steam generation, which could revolutionize seawater desalination and wastewater treatment.* -
  • This aerogel has a unique vertical pore structure that enhances its mechanical strength, water transport, and ability to convert light to heat, achieving an impressive light absorption rate of 96.58% and efficient evaporation performance.* -
  • The aerogel also shows remarkable resistance to deformation, self-cleaning properties, and high removal rates of contaminants, making it a promising solution for effective water purification and desalination processes.*

Cardiac hypertrophy (CH) is an adaptive cardiac response to overload whose decompensation eventually leads to heart failure or sudden death. Recently, accumulating studies have indicated the implication of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) in CH progression. MAGI1-IT1 is a newly-identified lncRNA that is highly associated with CH, while its specific role in CH progression remains masked.
