Article Synopsis
  • Huachansu Capsule (HCSc), derived from the skin of dried toads, is traditionally used to treat malignant tumors but is associated with cardiotoxicity, the mechanisms of which remain unclear.
  • The study aimed to identify the cardiotoxic effects of high-dose HCSc and investigate the underlying mechanisms using advanced techniques like UPLC-MS, toxicity experiments, and molecular analysis.
  • Results indicated that specific components in HCSc could cause cardiac toxicity by affecting heart-related gene regulation and activating the cAMP signaling pathway, especially at higher doses.
