Cancer-related cognitive impairment (CRCI) has emerged as a significant long-term complication in cancer survivors, particularly those undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or targeted therapies. Despite advances in treatment, CRCI affects patients' quality of life, impacting their daily functioning, work capacity, and psychological well-being. In recent years, research has focused on identifying predictive factors for CRCI and developing risk prediction models to facilitate early intervention.

Background: Right anterolateral thoracotomy or left anterolateral thoracotomy applied to partial anomalous pulmonary venous connection correction have been reported to obtain cosmetic and less invasive outcomes as alternative approaches to median sternotomy. However, the application of different approaches is still confusing. We compared the perioperative and mid-term outcomes to seek indications of different approaches and guide surgical treatment of partial anomalous pulmonary venous connection.

The clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)/Cas12a system exhibits extraordinary capability in the field of molecular diagnosis and biosensing, attributed to its trans-cleavage ability. The precise modulation of performance has emerged as a significant challenge in advancing CRISPR technology to the next stage of development. Herein, we reported a CRISPR/Cas12a regulation strategy based on an overhanging activator.

Air pollution control necessitates the implementation of multiple policy instruments in a coordinated manner. However, the enforcement of different policy combinations may generate complementary or offsetting synergistic effects, thereby influencing policy effectiveness. Nevertheless, the direction of synergy and the mechanisms of action among heterogeneous policies is undefined in existing academic research.

In this paper, near-infrared spectroscopy(NIRS) was employed to analyze 129 batches of commercial products of Reduning Injection. The batch reporting rate was estimated according to the report of Reduning Injection in the direct adverse drug reaction(ADR) reporting system of the drug marketing authorization holder of the Center for Drug Reevaluation of the National Medical Products Administration(National Center for ADR Monitoring) from August 2021 to August 2022. According to the batch reporting rate, the samples of Reduning Injection were classified into those with potential risks and those being safe.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the physical and mental health of human beings. Most adolescents in mainland of China have been infected with COVID-19 after the adjustment of the dynamic zero-COVID-19 policy. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the COVID-19 pandemic effect and depressive symptoms among adolescents in mainland China.

Marine plastic pollution has emerged as a significant ecological and biological issue impacting global marine ecosystems. To develop real-time cleaning systems for marine plastic litter, we implemented a three-dimensional marine plastic litter real-time detection (3D-MPLRD) system that incorporates deep learning techniques. Specifically, image quality assessment and enhancement are applied to mitigate the adverse effects of harsh underwater conditions on image quality, thereby enhancing the training efficacy of models beyond that achieved by conventional approaches.

Background: There are mixed findings in the literature regarding the association between HIV status and the risk of COVID-19 infection. Thus, we aimed to estimate the association between characteristics of HIV infection and the risk of COVID-19 Infection in a Chinese sample.

Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional survey of 1995 people living with HIV (PLWH) and 3503 HIV-negative adults in Ningbo, China.

Logical analysis of multiple-miRNA expression information and immediate output of diagnostic results facilitates early cancer detection. In this work, we constructed an isothermal molecular classifier capable of performing computations on multiple miRNAs and directly providing diagnosis results. First, we developed linear-after-the-exponential rolling circle amplification (LATE-RCA), a nearly linear isothermal amplification that does not destroy the original quantitative information about miRNAs.

Purpose: Approximately 30% of patients with sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) present with masked hypertension, primarily characterized by elevated nighttime blood pressure. This study aimed to develop a hypertension prediction model tailored for primary care physicians, utilizing simple, readily available predictors derived from type IV sleep monitoring devices.

Patients And Methods: Participants were recruited from communities in Guangdong Province, China, between April and May 2021.

Isothermal amplification-based nucleic acid detection technologies have become rapid and efficient tools for molecular diagnostics. Sequence-specific monitoring methods are crucial for isothermal amplification, as they help identify the occurrence of extended primer dimers, which can lead to false positive results. Fluorescent aptamers are promising tools for real-time monitoring of isothermal amplification but are inherently limited by thermostability.

Objective: To establish a prediction nomogram for early prediction of neonatal acute respiratory distress syndrome (NARDS).

Methods: This is a retrospective cross-sectional study conducted between January 2021 and December 2023. Clinical characteristics and laboratory results of cases with neonatal pneumonia were compared in terms of presence of NARDS diagnosis based on the Montreux Definition.

Objective: This study sought to evaluate the value of a CO field-flooding device in cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) surgical procedures for congenital heart disease (CHD) performed via a right-side small incision approach.

Methods: Between April 2022 and December 2023, 234 children with simple CHD who underwent CPB via a right-side small incision approach were separated into a control group (n = 93) without the use of a CO field-flooding device and a treatment group (n = 141) in which this device was added to the traditional surgical manual exhaust. Demographic, perioperative, arterial blood gas (ABG), and laboratory test data were then compared between these groups of patients.

Background: The increasing prevalence of primary hypertension among children and adolescents is a global health concern, with inadequate sleep duration identified as a significant risk factor. This study investigates the impact of weekday-weekend sleep duration gap (WWSDG) on hypertension among American adolescents.

Methods: Using data from the NHANES 2017-2020 cohort, we analyzed sleep patterns and hypertension prevalence among 430 adolescents.

Objective: Berry syndrome is a group of rare congenital cardiac malformations including aortopulmonary window (APW), aortic origin of the right pulmonary artery (AORPA), interruption of the aortic arch (IAA), patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) (supplying the descending aorta) and intact ventricular septum. This paper will analyze the clinical data of 7 patients with Berry syndrome who underwent surgical treatment in our institution and discuss the one-stage surgical correction of Berry syndrome in combination with the literature.

Methods: From January 2013 to July 2024, a total of 7 children with Berry syndrome were admitted to the Cardiac Surgery Department of Beijing Children's Hospital.

Background: Previous studies have suggested that neighborhoods characterized by higher walkability are related to a reduced risk of ischemic heart disease (IHD), whereas exposure to PM is positively associated with risk of IHD. Nevertheless, their joint impact on IHD warrants further investigation.

Methods: This prospective cohort study was performed in Yinzhou, Ningbo, China, comprising 47,516 participants.

Article Synopsis
  • Chlorophyll is essential for photosynthesis in plants, and its breakdown is facilitated by chlorophyllase (CLH), which has not been thoroughly studied in Rosaceae species, especially in apples.
  • In this research, 20 different CLH genes were identified across seven Rosaceae species, with variations in their amino acid composition, structure, and location within the plant cells.
  • The study also discovered that these CLHs are active in response to environmental factors and are predominantly expressed in leaf tissues, with MdCLH1 specifically shown to localize in chloroplasts of tobacco leaves.
