Growing evidence has demonstrated that treadmill exercise is beneficial to increase β-amyloid (Aβ) clearance and protect against Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, the underlying mechanisms remain to be elucidated. Recently, microglia dysfunction leading to Aβ clearance impairment is proved an important mechanism for later Aβ deposition and AD pathogenesis.

Research Question: Could extracellular vesicle-derived long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) serve as promising circulating biomarkers for endometriosis?

Design: To obtain novel diagnostic markers, 85 patients with endometriosis were enrolled as the endometriosis group and 86 unaffected participants as the control group. RNA sequencing was performed to identify extracellular vesicle-derived lncRNA that were differentially expressed between women with endometriosis (n = 5) and unaffected participants (n = 6). Messenger RNA and lncRNA sequences of the plasma extracellular vesicles were analysed using Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes analyses.

In flowering plants, C-to-U RNA editing can be critical to normal functions of mitochondrion-encoded proteins. Mitochondrial C-to-U RNA editing is facilitated by many factors from diverse protein families, of which the pentatricopeptide repeat (PPR) proteins play an important role. Owing to their large number and frequent embryo lethality in mutants, functions of many PPRs remain unknown.

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is a disease characterized by excessive administration complexity because it exhibits extraordinary nonuniformity among distinct molecular subtypes. We herein intended to delineate the metabolic aspects of clear cell RCC (ccRCC) in terms of the gene expression profile. Recent studies have revealed that metabolic variations within tumors are related to the responsiveness to immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) therapy and patient prognosis.

Mechanical forces have profound effects on the morphology and migration of cells in a two-dimensional environment. However, cells in vivo mostly migrate in three-dimensional space while physically constrained, and the mechanism by which cellular dynamic forces drive migration in this confined environment is unclear. Here, we present a method of fabricating microfluidic chips with integrated DNA-based tension probes to measure spatiotemporal variations in integrin-mediated force exerted during confined cell migration.

RNA C-to-U editing is important to the expression and function of organellar genes in plants. Although several families of proteins have been identified to participate in this process, the underlying mechanism is not fully understood. Here we report the function of EMP80 in the C-to-U editing at the nad7-769 and atp4-118 sites, and the potential recruitment of ZmDYW2 as a trans deaminase in maize (Zea mays) mitochondria.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates how the protein TsKaSPI from the parasite Trichinella spiralis causes stress in the endoplasmic reticulum (ERS), leading to cell apoptosis in intestinal epithelial cells during infection.
  • - Researchers used various assays to demonstrate that ERS occurs during T. spiralis infection and that it triggers apoptosis, with TsKaSPI playing a significant role in this process.
  • - TsKaSPI activates the NF-κB signaling pathway and both ERS and NF-κB activation influence each other, contributing to inflammation and cell death in the intestines of infected individuals.

The characteristic analysis of cyanobacterial organic matters is an important premise of cyanobacterial organic pollution control. This paper investigated the component structure characteristics of algal organic matters (AOM) secreted and released by cyanobacteria in laboratory culture and actual Taihu Lake environment by spectroscopic quantitative and qualitative methods. Results showed that the secretion amount of AOM was mainly 4-6 μg COD/10 cells during the growth period of Microcystis aeruginosa, and the content ratio of extracellular organic matters (EOM) to intracellular organic matters (IOM) gradually increased from 0.

Intracellular immune receptor nucleotide-binding leucine-rich repeats (NLRs) are highly regulated transcriptionally and post-transcriptionally for balanced plant defense and growth. NLR genes often exist in gene clusters and are usually co-expressed under various conditions. Despite intensive studies of the regulation of NLR proteins, cis-acting elements for NLR gene induction, repression or co-expression are largely unknown due to a larger than usual cis-region for their expression regulation.
