The performance of methylated in lower gastrointestinal (GI) cancer (colorectal cancer) has been extensively investigated; however, its performance in upper GI cancer (esophageal cancer and gastric cancer) and the comparison with lower GI cancer have rarely been studied. A total of 1854 subjects, including 344 upper GI cancer patients, 459 lower GI cancer patients, and 1051 noncancer subjects, were recruited in this prospective cohort study. A modified single polymerase chain reaction test for detecting was used for plasma detection.

Aims: Acute pulmonary embolism (aPE) leads to a significant decrease in antegrade pulmonary blood volume (PBV), which can be measured by contrast echocardiography at the bedside. The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has led to the emergence of global health care. In this study, we aimed to explore the association between drug treatments and the incidence of drug-induced liver injury (DILI) in hospitalized patients with COVID-19. A retrospective study was conducted on 5113 COVID-19 patients in Hubei province, among which 395 incurred liver injury.

Methods: We included 58,026 Taiwan residents who received a standard medical screening program between 2001 and 2016. Levels of fine particulate matter (PM) at each participant's residential address were estimated using multiple satellite-based aerosol optical depth data combined with a chemical transport model.

Research Question: Could extracellular vesicle-derived long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) serve as promising circulating biomarkers for endometriosis?

Design: To obtain novel diagnostic markers, 85 patients with endometriosis were enrolled as the endometriosis group and 86 unaffected participants as the control group. RNA sequencing was performed to identify extracellular vesicle-derived lncRNA that were differentially expressed between women with endometriosis (n = 5) and unaffected participants (n = 6). Messenger RNA and lncRNA sequences of the plasma extracellular vesicles were analysed using Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes analyses.

Pharmacovigilance in China: Evolution and future challenges.

Drug-related adverse reactions are among the main reasons for harm to patients under care worldwide and even their deaths. The pharmacovigilance system has been proven to be an effective method of avoiding or alleviating such adverse events. In 2019, after two decades of implementation of the drug-related adverse reaction reporting system, China formally implemented a pharmacovigilance system with the Pharmacovigilance Quality Management Standards and a series of supporting technical documents created to improve the safety of medication given to patients.

Introduction: To investigate the prospective association of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) with long-term risk of overall, site-specific cancer and cancer-specific mortality in general population.

Methods: Participants free of inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease, and any cancer at baseline from the UK Biobank were included, with patients with IBS as the exposure group and non-IBS patients as the reference group. The primary outcome was the incidence of overall cancer and cancer-specific mortality.
