Functional electrical stimulation improves quality of life by reducing intermittent claudication.

Objective: To determine if Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) would improve ischemic pain, walking distance, and quality of life of patients with intermittent claudication.

Design: Single blind, randomized block, two factorial design.

Patients: Patients diagnosed with Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) and intermittent claudication (IC).

Diagnosis and management of traumatic pseudoaneurysm of the carotid artery: case report and review of the literature.

Injury to the carotid artery can occur in the setting of blunt and penetrating trauma. Such injury can result in pseudoaneurysm formation. We present a case of posttraumatic common carotid pseudoaneurysm (PTCP) that was diagnosed and treated 2 months after a motor vehicle accident and review the literature on the presentation, diagnosis, and management of PTCP.

Bilateral synchronous breast cancer in a male.

Breast cancer in males is rare, accounting for less than 1% of all cases. Bilateral male breast cancer is reported to occur in fewer than 2% of all the diagnosed cases of male breast cancer, and synchronous tumors are exceedingly rare. The authors report a case of male breast cancer that is bilateral and synchronous, and review the literature on male breast cancer.
