During sexual reproduction in the ciliate, Tetrahymena thermophila, cells of complementary mating type pair ("conjugate") undergo simultaneous meiosis and fertilize each other. The migrating pronucleus of one cell translocates to the mating partner and fuses with its stationary pronucleus and vice versa.
