This study compared the chemical, structural, and luminescent properties of xerogel-based ceramic powders (CPs) with those of a new series of crystallized aerogels (CAs) synthesized by the epoxy-assisted sol-gel process. Materials with different proportions of Eu (2, 5, 8, and 10 mol%) were synthesized in LuO host matrices, as well as a EuO matrix for comparative purposes. The products were analyzed by infrared spectroscopy (IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), photoluminescence analysis, and by the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) technique.

This paper reports on the synthesis and characterization of LaO:Eu luminescent aerogels fabricated by the sol-gel method and the supercritical drying technique. The % mol concentration of the Eu ion was varied to study the effects on the luminescent properties of the aerogels. XRD and TEM analysis showed that the LaO:Eu aerogels exhibited a semi-crystalline behavior regardless of whether the concentration of europium was increased.

Transparent BaTiO(3):Eu(3+) films were prepared via a sol-gel method and dip-coating technique, using barium acetate, titanium butoxide, and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as modifier viscosity. BaTiO(3):Eu(3+) films ~500 nm thick, crystallized after thermal treatment at 700 masculineC. The powders revealed spherical and rod shape morphology.
