Background: Although shift work is a part of the physicians' routine, there is controversy on the length of shifts and adequate rest for safe professional practice. If on the one hand long working hours might have negative impact on patient safety by interfering with the psychological and physical functioning of physicians, on the other shorter working hours might impair the safety of patients due to interference with the continuity of care.

Objective: To analyze the impact of restrictions to physicians' working hours on patient safety.

Background: Adrenal hypoplasia congenita (AHC) is an X-linked disorder that affects the adrenal cortex and hypothalamus-pituitary-gonadal axis (HPG), leading to primary adrenocortical insufficiency (PAI) and hypogonadotropic hypogonadism. AHC is caused by a mutation in the DAX-1 gene (NR0B1). More commonly, this disease is characterized by early-onset PAI, with symptoms in the first months of life.

Post-menopause hyperandrogenism is a condition that needs careful evaluation. Aromatase inhibitors (AI), which are important in the management of positive estrogen breast cancer, and chronic kidney disease (CKD) can puzzle the evaluation of this condition. A postmenopause female with type-2 diabetes and advanced CKD was attended due to progressive virilization, which has started after the introduction of an AI for breast cancer 5 years earlier.
