The risk of hypoparathyroidism and hypocalcemia is a critical concern in thyroid surgery. Preserving parathyroid gland vascularization during surgery is essential for effective prevention. Preoperative and postoperative management, including calcium and Vitamin D supplementation, is paramount.

Management of hypopituitarism: a perspective from the Brazilian Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism.

Hypopituitarism is a disorder characterized by insufficient secretion of one or more pituitary hormones. New etiologies of hypopituitarism have been recently described, including head trauma, cerebral hemorrhage, and drug-induced hypophysitis. The investigation of patients with these new disorders, in addition to advances in diagnosis and treatment of hypopituitarism, has increased the prevalence of this condition.

The impact of sleep apnea treatment on carbohydrate metabolism in patients with acromegaly.

Sleep Apnea is highly prevalent and may contribute to insulin resistance in patients with acromegaly. The primary aim of this study was to assess the impact of sleep apnea treatment with a continuous positive air pressure (CPAP) device on insulin resistance evaluated by hyperinsulinemic euglycemic clamp (HEC). A prospective, randomized, open label, placebo-controlled, crossover study was performed at a tertiary outpatient pituitary center.

[TSH-secreting pituitary tumors: two case reports and literature review].

Introduction: TSH-secreting pituitary adenomas are rare pituitary functioning tumors accounting for less than 2% of the pituitary adenomas. The clinical feature consists of thyrotoxicosis occasionally associated to tumoral symptoms due to mass effect. The biochemical feature consists of elevated thyroid hormones levels and normal or high TSH concentrations.

Severe hyperprolactinemia associated with internal carotid artery aneurysm: differential diagnosis between prolactinoma and hypothalamic-pituitary disconnection.

Sellar and parasellar masses blocking inhibitory hypothalamic dopaminergic tonus can produce hyperprolactinemia. One of these conditions, seldom reported, is internal carotid artery aneurysm causing pituitary stalk compression and hyperprolactinemia, the majority of which is related to small increases in serum prolactin levels. The aim of this study is to report the case of a patient with an internal carotid aneurysm and severe hiperprolactinemia.
