Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to investigate the reasons for failures in unicondylar knee arthroplasty (UKA) and analyze the types of implants used and the necessity for bone grafting in revision surgeries at a specific medical center from 1990 to 2013.
  • A retrospective analysis revealed 27 failures in 26 patients, with component collapse being the main cause in 33% of cases, and various other causes identified, including aseptic failure and infection.
  • The findings indicated that 35% of the revision surgeries required bone grafting in the tibial area, with no metal increases used and only one case needing an implant constraint for instability.

Objective: To present the surgical technique for the He-miCAP-Arthrosurface(®) system and evaluate our results from this technique for treating primary and/or secondary shoulder osteoarthrosis.

Method: Between June 2007 and June 2009, 10 shoulders of 10 patients (nine with primary osteoarthrosis and one with avascular necrosis of the humeral head) underwent surface arthroplasty using the HemiCAP-Arthrosurface(®) system to correct the problem. The follow-up time ranged from six to 29 months (mean of 17 months).
