Organic micropollutants (OMP) in the household and industrial wastewater are not efficiently removed by conventional treatment processes and a significant fraction ends in sludge. Proper valorization technologies become fundamental to attain sustainable sewage sludge management, with anaerobic digestion (AD) as one of the preferred strategies.
