Imaging of parotid tumors is crucial for surgery planning, but it cannot distinguish malignant from benign lesions with absolute reliability. The aim of the study was to establish a diagnostic MRI algorithm to differentiate parotid tumors. A retrospective study was conducted including all patients with parotid tumors, who underwent 3T-MRI and surgery.

Despite growing awareness, the integration of evidence-based nutritional strategies into oncology remains inconsistent. Following a 2020 survey that highlighted critical gaps, the NutriOnc Research Group launched targeted initiatives to raise awareness and improve practices.

While any data scientist knows the importance of rigorously preparing data to obtain good performing models, only scarce literature formalizes its benefits. In this work, we present the method of Statistically Enhanced Learning (SEL), a formalization framework of existing feature engineering and extraction tasks in Machine Learning (ML).

The increasing demand for total facial contouring and rejuvenation has led to a rise in the use of volumizing fillers and the integration of these procedures with other treatments such as toxins, threads, lasers, radiofrequency, and ultrasound. Achieving satisfactory results necessitates a comprehensive understanding of facial anatomy and the effects of aging on skin tissue.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA major challenge in the development of more effective therapeutic strategies for Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the identification of molecular mechanisms linked to specific pathophysiological features of the disease. Importantly AD has a two-fold higher incidence in women than men and a protracted prodromal phase characterized by amnestic mild-cognitive impairment (aMCI) suggesting that biological processes occurring early can initiate vulnerability to AD. Here, we used a sample of 125 subjects from two independent study cohorts to determine the levels in plasma (the most accessible specimen) of two essential mitochondrial markers acetyl-L-carnitine (LAC) and its derivative free-carnitine motivated by a mechanistic model in rodents in which targeting mitochondrial metabolism of LAC leads to the amelioration of cognitive function and boosts epigenetic mechanisms of gene expression.

Yet, variability in regional healthcare delivery may influence treatment times and patient outcomes. We thus aimed at evaluating differences in management and outcomes of STEMI patients across Northern, Central, and Southern Italy, focusing on time-dependent reperfusion and in-hospital logistics.

Material And Methods: An anonymous, online survey via Google Forms (including 24 questions) was distributed among young (< 40 years old) ROs in Italy through the yAIRO network, from March 15, 2024, to 31, 2024. These ROs were officially registered with yAIRO in 2023.
Purpose: To compare Italian use with current international guidelines and to evaluate oncological outcomes and toxicity patterns of adjuvant radiation therapy (RT) for endometrial cancer (EC) in Italian women.
Materials And Methods: To conduct a retrospective multicentre Italian study a large database was set up. Inclusion criteria were: accrual between 2010 and 2020, treatment with surgery, post-operative external beam RT (EBRT) and/or interventional radiotherapy (IRT) associated or not with adjuvant chemotherapy.
Aims: To analyze the long-term results of a prospective phase II trial testing intensified total neoadjuvant therapy (TNT) in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC).
Materials And Methods: Patients with histologically confirmed LARC adenocarcinoma were enrolled. Intensified TNT consisted of targeted agent (bevacizumab or panitumumab/cetuximab) plus FOLFOXIRI (5-fluorouracil, leucovorin, oxaliplatin and irinotecan) induction chemotherapy followed by intensified (oxaliplatin and 5-fluorouracil) chemoradiotherapy (CRT) and surgical resection.

Objectives: Comprehensive care is fundamental to cancer survivors enduring long-term side-effects of cancer treatment including nutrition impact symptoms and critical weight loss (CWL). The aim of our study was to address weight loss (WL), nutritional aspects, and quality of life (QoL) in head and neck cancer (HNC) survivors.
Study Design: This was a cross-sectional study of HNC patients treated at the Sapienza University-Hospital, 2018-2022.
Background: Microglia play a crucial role in brain development and repair by facilitating processes such as synaptic pruning and debris clearance. They can be activated in response to various stimuli, leading to either pro-inflammatory or anti-inflammatory responses associated with specific metabolic alterations. The imbalances between microglia activation states contribute to chronic neuroinflammation, a hallmark of neurodegenerative diseases.

Methods: Patients (pts) underwent Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES), Videofluoroscopy (VFS) and M.D.
Treatment monitoring in metastatic castrate-resistant prostate cancer has become a hot topic in the androgen receptor pathway inhibitors (ARPIs) era. Patients without increase in their PSA level at the time of imaging progression are not a rare phenomenon. What is the best monitoring strategy in asymptomatic cases represents a salient question.

Cognitive deficits, fatigue, depression, and anxiety are common manifestations of the condition, but the underlying mechanisms driving these long-lasting neuropsychiatric features are still unclear. We conducted a prospective multi-method investigation of post-hospitalization COVID-19 patients in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

However, the underlying causes and mechanisms of MDD are not fully understood, and many patients are refractory to available therapeutic options. Impaired control of brain mRNA translation underlies several neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative conditions, including autism spectrum disorders and Alzheimer's disease (AD).
