Aim: This study aimed to assess if the addition of origanum oil to denture materials could decrease microorganisms counts and biofilm formation without changing their mechanical/surface properties.
Materials And Methods: A total of 66 resilient denture liner discs (SoftConfort, Dencril Comércio de Plásticos Ltda, SP, Brazil) were prepared with fixed dimensions of 10 × 3 mm for biofilm assay ( = 36) and 12 × 2 mm for sorption-solubility tests ( = 30) containing three oil concentrations - 0, 2.5 and 5%, thereby = 12 per each group samples for biofilm assay and = 10 per each group for sorption-solubility test respectively.

Background: The inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) disk is a simple and quick method to assess the level of disability experienced by patients with IBD. It has been already translated and validated in European countries, however it was not yet translated and validated to use in Brazil.
Objective: This study was performed to translate and validate a Brazilian version of the IBD-Disk.
This article discusses the meanings of differentiated health care guideline given by health professionals from the Indigenous Health Multidisciplinary Team (EMSI) who work at the Alto Rio Negro Special Indigenous Health District (DSEI-ARN). This exploratory, descriptive, analytical, and qualitative study conducted 15 semi-structured interviews with professionals from the Indigenous Health Multidisciplinary Teams of the DSEI-ARN, which were submitted to content analysis. The four meaning cores identified from the analyses were: Differentiated care as a way of providing primary care in the territory; Actions conducted under the population's cultural differences; Self-care, traditional medicine, and the construction of therapeutic itineraries; and Professionals' challenges and difficulties in addressing traditional indigenous health care.

The method involved the use of a screen-printed electrode (SPE) enhanced with a combination of Printex L6 carbon (PL6C) and polyaniline-based activated carbon (PAC) on a chitosan film crosslinked with epichlorohydrin (CTS:EPH). The detection was carried out using square-wave adsorptive anodic stripping voltammetry (SWAdASV) in a 0.

We analyze 408 plasma metabolites in Long Life Family Study participants to characterize markers of age, aging, extreme longevity, and mortality. We identify 308 metabolites associated with age, 258 metabolites that change over time, 230 metabolites associated with extreme longevity, and 152 metabolites associated with mortality risk.

The objective of this study is assessing clinical characteristics and outcomes of haematopoietic cell transplantation in children ≤5 years with bone marrow failure syndromes. We analysied 106 patients (66% males), median age 4.

Methods: We conducted a matched cohort study comparing early health trajectories in third-generation grandchildren (n = 5,637) and fourth-generation great-grandchildren (n = 14,908) of longevity-enriched sibships to demographically matched births (n = 41,090) in Denmark between 1973 and 2018.
Tumor hypoxia may compromise the results of chemotherapy for treating colorectal cancer because it stimulates angiogenesis and the release of tumor growth factors. Hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) supplementation may potentiate the effects of chemotherapy in such cases. This study aimed to assess the effect of HBO therapy combined with chemotherapy on the treatment of colorectal cancer in mice.

To address this, we carried out genome-wide cross-population gene-by-short-sleep and long-sleep duration interaction analyses for three blood pressure traits (systolic, diastolic, and pulse pressure) in 811,405 individuals from diverse population groups. We discover 22 novel gene-sleep duration interaction loci for blood pressure, mapped to 23 genes.

High soluble receptor for AGE (sRAGE) and low estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) levels are associated with CKD and aging. We evaluated whether eGFR calculated from creatinine and cystatin C share pleiotropic genetic factors with sRAGE.

Objective: To investigate end-of-life (EoL) events (dementia diagnosis, medication, hospitalizations in the last 5 years of life), causes of death, and location of death in long-lived siblings compared to matched sporadic long-livers from the Danish population.
Purpose: To evaluate patient characteristics and factors associated with surgical resection in patients with Crohn's disease (CD).
Methods: An analysis was performed on data from 295 patients with CD in follow-up from 2001 to 2018. Medical record data comprised age, gender, location, behavior and duration of the CD, smoking, and extraintestinal manifestation.
Although perianal Crohn's disease (PCD) is highly associated with the exacerbated inflammation, the molecular basis and immunological signature that distinguish patients who present a history of perianal lesions are still unclear. This paper aims to define immunological characteristics related to PCD. In this cross-sectional observational study, we enrolled 20 healthy controls and 39 CD patients.

To identify genetic mechanisms that affect cardiovascular risks in the LLFS population, we developed a multi-omics integration pipeline and applied it to 11 traits associated with cardiovascular risks. Using our pipeline, we aggregated gene-level statistics from rare-variant analysis, GWAS, and gene expression-trait association by Correlated Meta-Analysis (CMA).

In the current study, we aim to assess whether long-lived families with EM and without EM (non-EM) differ in systemic inflammation status and trajectory.
Methods: The current study included 4333 participants of the multi-center Long Life Family Study (LLFS).
Urban landscapes restrain the distribution of forest-dwelling species, which may be related to challenging conditions that impair body condition. The dynamics in urban areas lead to the simplification of communities that inhabit forest patches in cities with the turnover of sensitive species for opportunistic ones. In this study, we investigated the effect of urbanization on the body condition and diversity of scorpions at the landscape scale.
