As a recently discovered waste removal system in the brain, cerebral lymphatic system is thought to play an important role in regulating the homeostasis of the central nervous system. Currently, more and more attention is being focused on the cerebral lymphatic system. Further understanding of the structural and functional characteristics of cerebral lymphatic system is essential to better understand the pathogenesis of diseases and to explore therapeutic approaches.

Background: Autophagy refers to the process in which cells wrap their damaged organelles or unwanted proteins into a double-membrane structure and direct them to lysosomes for degradation. Autophagy can regulate many lung diseases such as pulmonary hypertension, acute lung injury, and lung cancer. However, few bibliometric studies on autophagy are available.

Renal injury is a fatal complication in critically ill patients with sepsis. As an ultrashort-acting synthetic opioid derivative, remifentanil has been reported to mitigate renal injury and sepsis. Nevertheless, whether remifentanil also suppresses sepsis-triggered renal injury is uncertain.

Electroacupuncture (EA) is commonly used to treat cerebrovascular diseases. This study aimed to clarify the mechanisms of action of treatments of cerebral ischemic stroke from the perspective of gut microecology. We used a mouse model and cell cultures to investigate the effects of EA on the intestinal microflora in mice models of middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) and the mechanisms underlying the antioxidant activities of metabolites.

Background: Acupuncture is a treatment for neuropathic pain, but its mechanism remains unclear. Previous studies showed that analgesia was induced in rats with neuropathic pain when their spinal cord adenosine content increased after electroacupuncture (EA); however, the mechanism behind this electroacupuncture-induced increase has not been clarified.

Objective: This study aimed to determine the role that ecto-5'-nucleotidase plays in EA-induced analgesia for neuropathic pain.

Previous studies have demonstrated that cardiomyocyte apoptosis, ferroptosis, and inflammation participate in the progress of sepsis-induced cardiomyopathy (SIC). Although Islet cell autoantigen 69 (ICA69) is an imperative molecule that could regulate inflammation and immune response in numerous illnesses, its function in cardiovascular disease, particularly in SIC, is still elusive. We confirmed that LPS significantly enhanced the expression of ICA69 in wild-type (WT) mice, macrophages, and cardiomyocytes.

Objective: Podocyte injury has a critical role in the pathogenesis of diabetic nephropathy (DN). Microencapsulated islet transplantation (MIT) is identified as an effective method for improving the clinical condition of DN. This study aimed to explore the role and mechanism of MIT in alleviating podocyte injury in DN.

Background: Intraoperative catheterization often leads to postoperative catheter-related bladder discomfort (CRBD) during the restoration period. This study aimed to assess the curative effect of butorphanol as a K receptor agonist in the treatment of postoperative CRBD. .

The treatment options for sepsis-associated encephalopathy caused by systemic inflammation are still not sufficient. Protein kinase C interaction protein 1 (PICK1) has attracted much attention because of its important physiological functions in many tissues. However, its role in sepsis-associated encephalopathy remains elusive.

Middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) injury refers to impaired blood supply to the brain that is caused by a cerebrovascular disease, resulting in local brain tissue ischemia, hypoxic necrosis, and rapid neurological impairment. Nevertheless, the mechanisms involved are unclear, and pharmacological interventions are lacking. 25-Hydroxycholesterol (25-HC) was reported to be involved in cholesterol and lipid metabolism as an oxysterol molecule.

Objective: To observe the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) pretreatment on inflammatory reaction, apoptosis and expression of Yes-associated protein (YAP) of ischemic penumbra of cerebral cortex in cerebral ischemia reperfusion injury rats, and to explore the possible mechanism of its neuroprotection effect.

Methods: A total of 84 SD rats were randomized into a sham operation group (12 rats), a model group (18 rats), an EA group (18 rats), an EA+YAP virus transfection group (18 rats) and an EA+virus control group (18 rats). Except for the sham operation group, thread embolization method was adopted to establish the middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) model in rats of the other groups.

Background: Although N-methyladenosine (mA) plays a very important role in different biological processes, its function in the brain has not been fully explored. Thus, we investigated the roles of the RNA demethylases Alkbh5/Fto in cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury.

Methods: We used a rat model and primary neuronal cell culture to study the role of mA and Alkbh5/Fto in the cerebral cortex ischemic penumbra after cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury.

Objective: To study the infection of human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) and herpes simplex virus type II (HSV-I) and the morphological characteristics of the infected spermatogenic cells in the semen of infertile men.

Methods: We washed and concentrated the spermatogenic cells obtained from 83 semen samples of infertile men, extracted DNA and then screened HCMV and HSV-II by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Immunocytochemistry (ICC) was used to detect the expression of correlative virus antigens of the positive semen cells, and the cytology smear was employed to observe the morphological changes of the spermatogenic cells under the microscope after cytology staining.
