Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the effect of transfecting SOX2-shRNA vector lentivirus to SACC cell lines on the biological behavior of salivary adenoid cystic carcinoma (SACC)-LM and SACC-83.
Methods: Three types of SOX2-shRNA lentiviral vectors (817, 818, and 819) were constructed and transfected successfully. The shRNA with the best inhibitory effect was screened out and transfected into SACC cells.
Background: Interleukin-6 (IL-6) has been reported to be critical in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). However, the set of pathways that IL-6 might activate in OSCC are not fully understood.
Methods: IL-6 and Sox4 expressions were first determined with RT-qPCR, ELISA, Western blot, or immunohistochemistry in OSCC tissues, and correlations between IL-6 and Sox4 expression and patient pathological characteristics were examined, and Kaplan-Meier approach was employed for evaluating the prognostic utility in OSCC patients.
Nucleoporin 37 kDa (NUP37), a member of the nucleoporin family, has been reported to regulate the proliferation and apoptosis of several tumor types. However, its role in the tumor immune microenvironment is unclear. Here, we evaluated the expression, methylation, copy number alteration, and prognostic significance of NUP37 using RNA-seq and clinical data from The Cancer Genome Atlas.

The paucity of suitable DMOADs is mostly due to the lack of approved ideal therapeutic targets necessary for the development of these drugs. However, based on recent discoveries from our laboratory and other independent laboratories, it is indicated that a cell surface receptor tyrosine kinase for collagen type II, discoidin domain receptor 2 (DDR2), may be an ideal therapeutic target for the development of DMOADs.

A multistage stratified random cluster-sampling method was used to enroll participants from the following three groups: children aged 3-5 years, adolescents aged 12 years, and people aged 65-74 years. In these three groups, the mean numbers of teeth that were affected by caries were 3.

Objective: The objectives of this study were to investigate the application and differential diagnostic value of safranin O staining, safranin-fast green staining, and Runt-related transcription factor 2 (Runx2) immunohistochemistry with regard to condylar hyperplasia and condylar osteochondroma.
Study Design: Histopathologic presence was evaluated by using hematoxylin and eosin staining, safranin O staining, safranin-fast green staining, and immunohistochemistry of Runx2 in postoperative specimens of normal condyle (control), condylar hyperplasia, and condylar osteochondroma.
Results: Safranin O staining clearly highlighted the tissue structure of the condylar cartilage, especially the hypertrophic layer.

Objective: To deposit silver nanoparticles on a titanium surface to obtain antibacterial properties. To reduce the incidence of peri-implantitis, and improve the success rate of implantation.
Methods: A silver nanoparticle-modified titanium (Ti-nAg) surface was prepared using silanization method, and its surface was characterized by using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDX).
Pax6 functions as a pleiotropic regulator in eye development and neurogenesis. Its splice variant Pax6 5a has been cloned in many vertebrate species including human and mouse, but never in rat. This study focused on the cloning and characterization of the Pax6 5a orthologous splicing variant in rat.

Objective: To investigate the effects of using guided bone regeneration (GBR) technique with an bioresorbable collagen membrane for repairing bone defects around dental implants.
Methods: In 12 mongrel dogs, pure titanium implants were immediately implanted in mandibles after extraction of the mandibular third and fourth premolars of both sides, in which standard bone defects of 3 mm x 3 mm x 5 mm were created at mesial side of the implants. The defects on right side were covered with Co membrane, the left side was uncovered as control.
