Shockwave-induced traumatic brain injury (TBI) results in the onset of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), triggered either by the TBI itself or other stressors. However, the interplay and underlying mechanisms of how these factors synergistically induce PTSD remain inadequately elucidated. Here, mice in the TBI (induced by biological shock tube blast injury) and PTSD (induced by single prolonged stress method) groups both displayed symptoms of PTSD behaviors, with the TBI+PTSD (composite model) group exhibiting more severe manifestations.

The discovery of the association between EGFR mutations and the efficacy of EGFR tyrosine-kinase inhibitors (TKIs) has revolutionized the treatment paradigm for patients with non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Currently, third-generation EGFR TKIs, which are often characterized by potent central nervous system penetrance, are the standard-of-care first-line treatment for advanced-stage EGFR-mutant NSCLC. Rational combinations of third-generation EGFR TKIs with anti-angiogenic drugs, chemotherapy, the EGFR-MET bispecific antibody amivantamab or local tumour ablation are being investigated as strategies to delay drug resistance and increase clinical benefit.

  • High-speed quantum key distribution (QKD) systems are using gain-switched semiconductor lasers (GSSL) and Sagnac interferometers due to their efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • However, the finite extinction ratio of GSSL can lead to a time-dependent side-channel that can compromise security by leaking information between the output polarization states of light pulses.
  • The study explores this vulnerability, tests various countermeasures, and presents a mathematical framework to evaluate their effects on secure key rates, ultimately offering practical recommendations for enhancing QKD security.

In this paper, we address the issues of insufficient accuracy and frequent identity switching in the multi-target tracking algorithm DeepSORT by proposing two improvement strategies. First, we optimize the appearance feature extraction process by training a lightweight appearance extraction network (OSNet) on a vehicle re-identification dataset. This makes the appearance features better suited for the vehicle tracking model required in our paper.

The utilization of thin zinc (Zn) anodes with a high depth of discharge is an effective strategy to increase the energy density of aqueous Zn metal batteries (ZMBs), but challenged by the poor reversibility of Zn electrode due to the serious Zn-consuming side reactions at the Zn||electrolyte interface. Here, we introduce 2-bromomethyl-1,3-dioxolane (BDOL) and methanol (MeOH) as electrolyte additive into aqueous ZnSO electrolyte. In the as-formulated electrolyte, BDOL with a strong electron-withdrawing group (-CHBr) tends to pair with the HO-Zn-MeOH complex, leading to the formation of organobromine-partnered HO-Zn-MeOH cluster ions.
