Baicalin is a flavonoid extracted from and shows a variety of biological activities as reducing lipids, diminishing inflammation, and inhibiting bacterial infection. However, there is no report of baicalin against CVB3 infection. In this study, we found that baicalin can reduce viral titer in a dose-dependent manner at a dose with no direct virucidal effect.

The cell viability test was initially performed to screen out appropriate concentrations of HO and fucoidan. After that, cells were exposed to HO in the presence or absence of pre-incubation with fucoidan.

Recent developments in tissue engineering have provided a new treatment for segmental bone defects. Urine-derived stem cells (USCs) can be obtained noninvasively and might be a new kind of seed cells used in bone tissue regeneration.

An innovative indicator for toxicity detection based on microbial fuel cells, average current inhibition rate (ACIR) was proposed. It was applied to the toxicity evaluation of three typical specific pollutants in petrochemical wastewater including copper(II), 2,4-dichlorophenol (2,4-DCP) and pyridine. ACIR which considered the entire process of toxic effects was proved to be more sensitive and wide-ranging than the conventional indicators.

With the addition of a new acid-binding agent, imidazole, the solution prepared by low-temperature polycondensation had suitable viscosity for spinning. Herein, the properties of six co-PPTA fibers with different contents of BIA and 4,4'-ODA segments were studied.

Methods: The databases PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science and Cochrane Library were searched for relevant studies. Randomized controlled trials comparing classical pulsed electromagnetic field with placebo for patients with knee osteoarthritis were included.
Previous studies have demonstrated that myeloid zinc finger 1 (MZF1) in the dorsal root ganglion (DRG) participates in neuropathic pain induced by chronic-constriction injury (CCI) via regulation of voltage-gated K channels (Kv). Emerging evidence indicates that transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) is involved in the development and maintenance of neuropathic pain. Although it is known that the transcription of TRPV1 is regulated by Kruppel-like zinc-finger transcription factor 7 (Klf7)-and that the structure of TRPV1 is similar to that of Kv-few studies have systematically investigated the relationship between MZF1 and TRPV1 in neuropathic pain.

Due to the rarity of this disease and limited data available, the prognostic factors of pelvic ES remain controversial. Thus, this study aimed to identify independent prognostic factors, and develop a nomogram for predicting survival rates in patients with pelvic ES.

However, little is known about how cells respond to the dynamic microenvironment resulting from hydrogel gelation-based cell encapsulation. Here, a tunable biomimetic hydrogel system that possesses alterable gelation kinetics and biologically relevant matrix stiffness is developed to study 3D dynamic cellular responses during encapsulation.

A microbial fuel cell (MFC) was successfully developed as a toxicity biomonitoring system to enable a quick response to wastewater with unknown toxicity in toxic events. The objective was to quantitatively assess the toxicity of wastewater by a rapid method. Different concentrations of formaldehyde were introduced into the anode chamber, which led to different stages of voltage change.

It is used for its fast processing speed and wide range of applications on programmable hardware. However, in some important fields such as microfluidic control, medicine, aerospace, and optical measurement, the observed targets are often spotted with different sizes.

Whether truncated glioma-associated oncogene homolog 1 (TGLI1), a transcription factor known to promote angiogenesis, migration and invasion, plays any role in metastasis of any tumor type has never been investigated. In this study, results of two mouse models of breast cancer metastasis showed that ectopic expression of TGLI1, but not GLI1, promoted preferential metastasis to the brain.

Because pixels have different silicon structures and read outputting, each pixel has non-uniformity response with specific illumination. The flat-field correction of a CMOS image sensor is crucial before image processing.

Maize is a critically important staple crop in the whole world, which has contributed to both economic security and food in planting areas. The main target for researchers and breeding is the improvement of maize quality and yield. The use of computational biology methods combined with multi-omics for selecting biomolecules of interest for maize breeding has been receiving more attention.

Here, we perform a quantitative analysis of such effect, by utilizing the sensitive optical responses of graphene to the refractive index (RI) change of its surrounding environment. We utilize a reflection coupling configuration by combining the total internal reflection (TIR) and ultrasonic waves.

Zea mays (maize) is the highest yielding food crop globally, feeding large numbers of people across the planet. It is thus especially important to explore the key genes that affect maize production with prior knowledge. Merging multiple datasets of different types can improve the accuracy of candidate genes prediction results, so we constructed interaction networks using gene, mRNA, protein, and expression profile datasets.

While surgical resection and radiation therapy are effective treatment modalities, the majority of patients will succumb from disease progression. We have developed a novel therapy for brain metastases that delivers athermal radiofrequency electromagnetic fields that are amplitude-modulated at breast cancer specific frequencies (BCF).

In the current study, the expression of MMP-9/2 in wounded tissue, ipsilateral DRG, and the spinal dorsal horn as well as its role in the development of postoperative pain were examined following plantar incision in rats. Our results showed that plantar incision resulted in increased expression of MMP-9/2 in wounded tissue and ipsilateral L4/5 DRGs.
