Objective: According to DSM-5, Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD) is characterized by chronic temper outbursts and irritable moods. So far, little is known about its prevalence rate, course and influence on individual well-being. We assessed the prevalence rates of DMDD symptoms during adulthood and primary school age - the latter retrospectively - and studied their relationship with psychiatric disorders and socioeconomic variables.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Tourette syndrome (TS) as well as obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) are co-occurring neurodevelopmental diseases that share alterations of frontocortical neurometabolites. In this longitudinal study we investigated the behavioral and neurochemical effects of aripiprazole and riluzole treatment in juvenile spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR), a model for ADHD. This review focuses on the inter- and transgenerational effects of stress experience prior to and during gestation. We provide an overview of findings from studies in humans as well as in animal models on brain structural and physiological functions and on the development of cognitive and executive functions. We also discuss the concept of stress-induced (re-)programming in more detail by highlighting epigenetic mechanisms and particularly those affecting the development of monoaminergic transmitter systems, which constitute the braińs reward system.

The goal of this study was to examine mental strain experiences of professionals with the "Perceived Stress Questionnaire" (PSQ) in youth welfare institutions, as well as to investigate the relationship between age, duration of employment in this work environment and gender of participants.

Little is known, however, about the psychopathology of perpetrators of sexual violence who have also experienced sexual victimization (victim-perpetrators). Thus, the aim of the current study was to examine this group within a sample of adolescents living in residential care or federal boarding schools.

The Massachusetts Youth Screening Instrument-second version (MAYSI-2) was specifically designed, normed and validated to assist juvenile justice facilities in the United States of America (USA), in identifying youths with potential emotional or behavioral problems. However, it is not known if the USA norm-based cut-off scores can be used in Switzerland.
