By combining integral field spectroscopy with extreme adaptive optics, we are now able to resolve objects close to the diffraction limit of large telescopes, exploring new science cases. We introduce an integral field unit designed to couple light with a minimal plate scale from the SCExAO facility at NIR wavelengths to a single-mode spectrograph. The integral field unit has a 3D-printed micro-lens array on top of a custom single-mode multi-core fiber, to optimize the coupling of light into the fiber cores.

The large demand for safe and efficient viral vector-based vaccines and gene therapies against both inherited and acquired diseases accelerates the development of viral vectors. One outstanding example, the Orf virus, has a wide range of applications, a superior efficacy and an excellent safety profile combined with a reduced pathogenicity compared to other viral vectors. However, besides these favorable attributes, an efficient and scalable downstream process still needs to be developed.

Orf virus (ORFV) represents a suitable vector for the generation of efficient, prophylactic antiviral vaccines against different pathogens. The present study investigated for the first time the therapeutic application of ORFV vector-based vaccines against tumors induced by cottontail rabbit papillomavirus (CRPV). Background: In allergic fungal sinusitis diagnostic and monitoring criteria are not firmly established, and the role of eosinophils in pathogenesis is not clear.

Objective: To determine whether assessment of eosinophil activation by measurement of eosinophil cationic protein in serum or allergic mucin would be useful in distinguishing patients with allergic fungal sinusitis from patients with chronic sinusitis of other etiologies.

Methods: Thirteen patients referred for possible allergic fungal sinusitis were evaluated and given a definite allergic fungal sinusitis diagnosis if they met five of the following six criteria: (1) history and physical not suggesting another etiology, (2) sinus computed tomography consistent with allergic fungal sinusitis, (3) typical allergic mucin, (4) fungus isolated from allergic mucin, (5) presence of fungal-specific IgE, and (6) elevated total IgE.

Acute, noninfectious, eosinophilic pneumonia with respiratory failure has been described in adults. This new form of eosinophilic lung disease differs from the previously described types of eosinophilic pneumonia. Patients with this entity develop rapid progressive respiratory failure, which seems to respond to corticosteroid therapy.
