It has been shown that biotopes of upper respiratory system and intestine were contaminated with yeast in 44.6% of patients with leukaemia (of 112 examined ones). Their quantity exceeds the boundary value for practically healthy people and is > or = 10(2) KOE/ml in the nasal activity and fauces and < or = 10(4) KOE/g in the intestine.

A new donor antidiphtheritic immunoglobulin produced in the Hematology and Transfusiology Institute of AMS of Ukraine and Donetsk transfusiology station is discussed in the article. The medication, antidiphtheritic horse serum had been used during the diphtheria epidemic, as a medication in Donetsk clinics. The medication meets requirements of State and International Standards and is registered in Ukraine.

An analytical survey of literature on the problem of the study of interrelations between the immune status of the organism and microbial ecology of a man is presented. The criteria which characterize normal flora of human organism varying in the process of evolutionary adaptation, interaction with microorganism and response of the immune system, its participation in formation of protective functions of the organism are considered. It is shown that the proceeding character and the finite result of different infectious processes depend on the state of the organism immune system.

An applicational usage of a siliconcontaining sorpent "Sillard" in the complex of treatment of patients with hemophilia, suffering inflammatory-purulent complications, had promoted the shortening of the wound clearance duration by 2-3 days and of the patient stationary treatment--by 3-4 days.

Studied were particular features of peripheral blood, certain immunological and biochemical indices under long-term exposure of human body to radiation after the accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. The study comprised 5578 individuals. The examinees were liquidators of the Chernobyl accident sequels (n = 1052), inhabitants of Pripyat evacuated from the town (n = 850), the Kiev SSBT primary donors (n = 1738).

Antitumor and antimetastatic properties of N-methyl formamide--an agent related to differentiation of tumoral cells and unithiol, official detoxicating drug containing SH-groups were studied in C57Bl/6 mice inoculated with Lewis's lung carcinoma. The drugs were administered intraperitoneally into animals at days 1, 4, 7, 13 and 16 after carcinoma inoculation and their effects were evaluated at day 19. Single administration of unithiol, 5 mg/kg body weight, did not affect tumor growth and metastases spreading.

The possibility was studied of obtaining of a highly-specific antirabies plasma from donor blood actively immunized with concentrated culture antirabies vaccine and optimal terms were determined for obtaining immunoreactive raw material for manufacturing of antirabies immunoglobulin. Technical aspects of manufacturing antirabies donor plasma are discussed.

The comparative study of the isolation rate, level, antigenic and class specificity of serum antibodies to the causative agents of purulent septic infections (Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus mirabilis) and acute enteric infections in healthy adults with different ABO blood groups before (836 persons) and after (1,429 persons) the catastrophe at the Chernobyl nuclear power station was made. The study revealed the fact that the genesis of antibodies directed against different microorganisms can be stimulated without additional antigenic challenge in the form of disease or immunization, which was definitely indicative of the influence of small radiation doses in Kiev on the humoral immunity of the population. The multifactor character of the dependence of antibacterial antibody formation under altered radiation conditions on the specific features of the infective agent and the intensity of its circulation among the population, individual immune responsiveness of the body and concrete radiation conditions was established.

The experiments on 52 rabbits have been carried out to show the possibility to use Proteus antigen with high content of H-component (H1; H2; H3 Proteus antigens are most frequently found) for active immunization to make highly specific humoral immunity. The optimal scheme of immunization consists of 3 subcutaneous injections in doses of 0.25-0.

A study is presented of homeostasis in 18 volunteer donors after immunisation with Proteus vaccine and in the dynamics of subsequent plasmapheresis for 12 months. It was shown that as a result of anti-Proteus immunisation there occurs an increase of the titer of anti-Proteus antibodies in the blood serum which was maintained at a high level in the course of plasmapheresis for three months. Indices of the peripheral blood, urine, liver function, humoral unspecific and cellular immunity were within normal levels.

Twenty patients with chronic myeloleucosis in the stage of blast crisis were examined. Results of immunological investigations indicate that these patients showed below normal indices of the absorptive and bactericidal function of polymorphous-nuclear neutrophils and cationic proteins. The number of T- and B-lymphocytes was also reduced.

Blast transformation of peripheral blood lymphocytes in healthy people is studied by enzymes of the microbic origin possessing the lectin activity. Galactose oxidase of Fusarium graminearum IMV-F-1060 is shown to be mitogenically active with respect to the lymphocytes in the culture in vitro and may be one of home sources of lymphocytic mitogens for the laboratory investigations.

The authors evaluate a method of procuring and preserving fetal liver cells in a medium containing low-molecular polyvynilpyrrolidon, glucose, lactose, sodium phosphate and sodiumhydrocitrate not requiring washing off. The biomaterial is stored at a temperature of -196 degrees C. The efficiency of this method of cryopreservation of fetal liver cell suspensions was confirmed by high morphological intactness, functional activity and proliferative capacity.

The authors studied the immune response of the body of 23 donors formerly hyperimmunized with staphylococcal anatoxin to pyocyaneus antigen. It was established that immunization of these donors with Bacillus pyocyaneus anatoxin did not produce pathological reactions of the body, resulted in activation of the immune systems and production and antipyocyaneus antibodies.

The content of antistaphylococcal antitoxins--antialphastaphylolysins was examined in the blood serum of three groups of blood donor volunteers. It is shown that volunteer blood donors immunized according to two schemes with prophylactic purposes may be a source of antistaphylococcal plasma. Additionally antistaphylococcal plasma may be obtained from non-immune donors showing high titers of antialphastaphylolysins revealed by the screening method.

The intravascular (iv) or intramuscular (im) inoculations of a suspension of Lewis carcinoma cells induced metastatic tumor nodules in the lungs of C57Bl/6 mice. The administration of curantil (dipyridamole) (500 mg per 20 g-mouse, per os) once a week beginning one day after iv tumor cells inoculation (2 X 10(5) cells) reduced 4-fold the number of tumor nodules. The administration of curantil one day after im tumor cells inoculation (2 X 10(6) cells) reduced 2-fold the number of tumor nodules.

The authors have studied 500 samples of blood serum in 262 patients at the age of from 17 to 70 years with thermal burns of different severity degree, depth of injury and location, which were followed by severe infective processes of pyocyanic etiology, and also in reconvalescents of the burn disease. It was established that despite the high degree of staphylococcal and pyocyanic sensibilization, the specific immune response against the background of infective process developed only in a small number of patients with severe burns.
