A micromodification of the method for registration of bivalent iron ion-initiated chemiluminescence of the apo-beta-lipoprotein total fraction isolated from the blood serum is described. A significant elevation of lipid peroxide levels and of lipid ability to oxidation, paralleled by reduced levels of endogenous antioxidants as against the norm were revealed in the patients with acute disorders of brain circulation with the use of this method. Chemiluminescent studies of lipid peroxidation processes permit monitoring lipid peroxidation reactions and thus obtain a complex of parameters that characterize the status of these processes in the studied system.

The authors present for the first time the results of investigation and treatment of 55 patients with transitory cerebral circulation disorders (TCCD) and circulatory encephalopathy by the new antioxidant drug emoxipine . The drug was noted to produce a beneficial clinical effect in 39 patients. After emoxipine treatment the patients demonstrated an increase of the endogenous antioxidants, evidence of the formation of the antioxidant depot.

A tendency to a rise of the studied parameters was detected in the patients with chronic eczema during remissions. The findings point to a contribution of LPO processes to the pathogenesis of true eczema.

202 patients with the polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) were investigated and divided into three groups depending on the variant of endoscopic surgical correction of polycystic ovaries. The highest conception rate (70.6%) was noted in group III; the ovaries of patients in this group were reduced to normal size as a result of dissection.

150 infertile patients with the polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), aged 19 to 36 years, have been investigated. PCOS was diagnosed on the basis of clinical symptoms, and the diagnosis was verified by laparoscopy, followed by histologic investigation of ovarian biopsy specimens. Hirsutism was found in 43% of the patients, while hair growth was marginal in 30% and normal in 27%.

The results of experiments performed in Wistar rats are indicative of the catecholamine release during the first hours of developing cerebral ischemia, and their role in activation of lipid peroxidation (LP). These events were characteristically enhanced in the ischemic hemisphere where EEG changes were most pronounced. Maximal changes in slow parieto-occipital EEG waves amplitude and malonic dialdehyde levels in the brain tissue were also correlated.

The calcium-free medium in slice preparations was shown to reduce considerably the spine length and to increase the amount of spines with a negative curvature of the spine head in the contact area. Besides, it is noticed that the postsynaptic thickening grows, the active zone length decreases, the number of perforated contacts drops and the spine apparatus moves to the dendritic zone.

Two forms of nucleoprotein complex alpha and beta were found in human keratinocytes by means of nucleoprotein celite chromatography. They were not observed any principal differences between distribution of chromatin various forms in impaired and normal skin of the patients with psoriasis as well as in skin of healthy persons. Only slight differences were detected in the ratio of radioactive DNA in alpha and beta forms of chromatin from impaired and normal keratinocytes, while tightly-bound DNA was increased in psoriasis.

Materials on the study of relationship between the activity of immunoreactive insulin and the degree of an increase in the level of anti-influenza antibodies, induced by vaccine strains, are presented. A short-term decrease in the activity of insulin, more pronounced in donors immunized with adsorbed chemical influenza vaccine, and an increase in the antibody level, mainly in the group of donors receiving killed influenza vaccine, have been noted.

Electroencephalographic examination of patients with giant neurinomas of the auditory nerve treated with diazepam and sombrevin in the preoperative period was effective in specifying definite signs, making it possible, on the basis of the EEG findings, to localize the pathological process at the level of the posterior cranial fossa and to establish its predominant impact on the structures of the posterior cranial fossa. The electroencephalographic data obtained from these patients under electrophysiological control during surgery correlated with the changes in the EEG pattern found in the preoperative period. As a result of the examination carried out, a totality of indices were specified, enabling the localization of the pathological process at the level of the posterior cranial fossa.
