[Reaction of the sympathetic-adrenal system of patients with tumors of the sellar-diencephalic region in the postoperative period].

The character of the reaction of the sympatheticoadrenal system (SAS) to operation in 51 patients with tumor of the sellar-diencephalic area was studied. A dependence was demonstrated between the character of postoperative SAS activity and the degree of involvement of the subthalamic area and the doses of hydrocortisone given in the postoperative period. The necessity of taking into account the condition of the SAS in conducting intensive therapy in neurosurgical patients in substantiated.

[Amplification of nucleotide sequences homologous to the viral myc oncogene in DNA of colonic mucosa in a patient with cancer of the same location].

Genomic DNA of intact colonic mucosa obtained from a female patient suffering colonic cancer revealed amplified nucleotide sequences (multiple copies) related to viral myc oncogene. The study failed to detect amplification in tumor. Causation and pathways of the event are discussed.

[Use of nucleic acid preparative electrophoresis in molecular oncological research].

Application of preparative electrophoresis in agarose gel for isolation of chromosomal and extrachromosomal genetic elements is described. The above-mentioned method is used for fractionation of chromosomal DNA according to the molecular weight; for isolation of the plasmid containing the insertion of the viral oncogene myc and for separation of the viral oncogene myc insertion from the vector (a linear form of plasmid pBR 322). The method can be successfully applied in molecular biology, microbiology and medicine.

[Method of determining the colloidal status of the vitreous body].

A new method for the quantitative estimation of the vitreous body colloidal state has been suggested. For realization of the method a fragment of the vitreous body and an equal volume of water are dried out, and the drying time is registered. The higher is the ratio between the drying time of the vitreous body fragment and water, the higher is the density of the vitreous body gel.

[Pituitary tumors extending into the nose, their topography, diagnosis and principles of treatment].

Tumors of the hypophysis grow into the nose in 5.5% of cases. In 33 of 40 patients the new growth was very large and spread both into the cranial and the nasal cavity; less frequently (in 7 cases) the tumor was only infrasellar, growing into the nasal cavity.

Effect of Zajdela ascites hepatoma on the activity and synthesis of liver histidase of tumor-bearing rats.

[Catamnestic evaluation of the results of surgical and combined treatment of pituitary tumors].

The work deals with the study of the results of surgical and combined treatment of 455 patients with adenoma of the hypophysis who were operated on between 1971 and 1977. the catamnestic follow-up periods ranged from 2 to 7 years and more. Microsurgical techniques were used in operations on 146 patients, 309 patients underwent operation by the traditional method.
