Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory condition characterized by the presence of endometrium-like tissue outside the uterus, primarily affecting pelvic organs and tissues. In this study, we explored platelet activation in endometriosis. We utilized the STRING database to analyze the functional interactions among proteins previously identified in small extracellular vesicles (EVs) isolated from the peritoneal fluid of endometriosis patients and controls.

Background: Endometriosis is a gynecological disease characterized by the presence of endometrial tissue in abnormal locations, leading to severe symptoms, inflammation, pain, organ dysfunction, and infertility. Surgical removal of endometriosis lesions is crucial for improving pain and fertility outcomes, with the goal of complete lesion removal. This study aimed to analyze the location and expression patterns of poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase 1 (PARP-1), epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM), and folate receptor alpha (FRα) in endometriosis lesions and evaluate their potential for targeted imaging.

While the precise etiology of EM remains elusive, recent studies have highlighted the crucial involvement of a dysregulated immune system. The complement system is one of the predominantly altered immune pathways in EM.

Here, we have tested the effectiveness of the compound 2c (4-hydroxy-2,6-bis(4-nitrobenzylidene)cyclohexanone 2). 2c interferes with the cysteine-dependent deubiquitinating enzyme (DUB) UCHL5, thus affecting the ubiquitin-proteasome-dependent degradation of proteins.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are cell-derived membrane-surrounded vesicles that contain proteins involved in immune response and apoptosis. A deep proteomic approach can help to identify dysregulated extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins in EVs correlated to key pathways for tumor development.

Design: A step-by-step video demonstration of a surgical technique.
Setting: Ovarian torsion is one of the most common gynecological emergencies, mainly affecting patients younger than 20 years of age [1], and causes 2% to 7% of acute abdomens [2].
Endometrial cancer (EC) is the most frequent gynecologic cancer in postmenopausal women. Pathogenetic mechanisms that are related to the onset and progression of the disease are largely still unknown. A multi-omics strategy can help identify altered pathways that could be targeted for improving therapeutical approaches.

Although Genome-Wide Association Studies have largely been employed, the current knowledge of the genetic mechanisms underlying EM is far from complete, and other approaches are needed. To this purpose, whole-exome sequencing (WES) was performed on a deeply characterised cohort of 80 EM patients aimed at the identification of rare and damaging variants within 46 EM-associated genes and novel candidates.

This study focuses on EC and normal endometrium phosphoproteome to identify differentially phosphorylated proteins involved in tumorigenic signalling pathways which induce cancer growth. We obtained tissue samples from 8 types I EC at tumour stage 1 and 8 normal endometria.

The identification of serum biomarkers, either soluble or carried in the exosome, may be useful in making an early diagnosis. We used label-free quantification mass spectrometry (LFQ-MS)-based proteomics to investigate the proteome of exosomes in the albumin-depleted serum from 12 patients with EC, as compared to 12 healthy controls.

Lack of C1q is characterized by poor trophoblast invasion and pregnancy failure. C1q can be the target of an antibody response: anti-C1q autoantibodies (anti-C1q) are present in several infectious and autoimmune diseases.

However, how the infection impacts pregnant mothers is still being worked out due to evidence of vertical transmission of the SARS-CoV-2, and higher incidence of pre-eclampsia, preterm birth, caesarian section, and fetal mortality. In this study, we assessed the levels of the three main receptors of SARS-CoV-2 (ACE2, TMPRSS2 and CD147) in placentae derived from SARS-CoV-2 positive and negative mothers.

We aimed to develop an assay to measure ascites' platelet activation. We enriched small extracellular vesicles (EVs) (40-200 nm) from ascites of high-grade epithelial ovarian cancer patients ( = 12) using precipitation with polyethylene glycol, and we conducted single-particle phenotyping analysis by nano-flow cytometry after labelling and ultra-centrifugation.

Materials And Methods: This is a retrospective study involving 42 patients who underwent transvaginal or transabdominal tru-cut biopsy between August 2017 and November 2021. The inclusion criteria were poor health status or primary inoperable advanced tumor, suspicion of recurrence or metastasis to the ovaries or peritoneum in gynecological and non-gynecological pelvic malignancies.
Endometrial cancer (EC) is the most frequent gynaecologic cancer in postmenopausal women. We used 2D-DIGE and mass spectrometry to identify candidate biomarkers in endometrial cancer, analysing the serum protein contents of 10 patients versus 10 control subjects. Using gel-based proteomics, we identified 24 candidate biomarkers, considering only spots with a fold change in volume percentage ≥ 1.

The efficacy of uterine manipulators in gynecological surgery, particularly as a cause of a pseudoaneurysm, has been poorly discussed in the literature. In this paper, we discuss a case of a 39-year-old woman with profuse uterine bleeding that occurred seven days after operative laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis.
