Zosteriform lichen planus is a variant of cutaneous lichen planus that may develop at the site of healed herpes zoster or may evolve spontaneously with no previous history of herpes zoster or varicella-zoster virus infection. Lichen planus is an immune-mediated disorder that affects the skin and mucous membrane. Nonetheless, its exact etiology remains unclear.

Methods: All published research were reviewed during the period of 2015 till 2020 using online research database through PubMed, Embase, and Google Scholar. A list of all Saudi dermatologists who are registered by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties as consultants, and who worked in public institutions at Jeddah and Makkah was retrieved.

Purpura fulminans is a critical, mostly fatal, thrombotic syndrome that requires urgent intervention. Purpura fulminans is an acute purpuric rash characterized by coagulation of the microvasculature, which leads to purpuric lesions and skin necrosis. In this report, we present a rare case of an adult patient who was admitted with rapidly forming purpura fulminans in an uncommon location.
