High acceptability, convenience and reduced carbon emissions of tele-neurology outpatient services at a regional referral centre in Kenya.

Background: There is severe shortage of neurologists in sub-Saharan Africa. Tele-neurology consultations (TNC) can bridge this service gap, but there is very little published evidence on TNC in our setting, which we addressed through our study.

Methods: We prospectively enrolled patients at our neurology outpatients from October 2020 to October 2021.

A Case of Oxalate Nephropathy in a Known Diabetic Patient following Acute Alcoholic Pancreatitis.

This was a case of a 39-year-old gentleman known to have diabetes mellitus since February 2021 on insulin glargine (Lantus) 16 units nocte and sitagliptin/metformin 50/500 mg once a day who presented to a tertiary teaching hospital in Kenya in May 2021 with a three-week history of vomiting and diarrhea. He had been previously admitted to a different facility with acute alcoholic pancreatitis. His examination was nonremarkable except for mild dehydration and pallor.

Heidenhain Variant of Sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease: First Reported Case from East Africa.

Sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (sCJD) is a rare prion disease that causes rapidly progressive fatal neurodegeneration. The rarer Heidenhain variant of sCJD presents with visual symptoms and is rarely reported in the literature from sub-Saharan Africa. We report the case of a 57-year-old male with a three-week history of losing direction when driving home and visual hallucinations described as seeing rainbows.
