A controlled-neonatal piglet trial was conducted to evaluate the impact of a plant-based infant formula containing buckwheat and almonds as the main source of protein compared to a commercially available dairy-based formula on the gut health parameters. Two day old piglets were fed either a plant-based or a dairy-based formula until day 21. Gut microbiome, cytokines, growth and metabolism related outcomes, and intestinal morphology were evaluated to determine the safety of the plant-based infant formula.

Olanzapine is linked to asymptomatic, transient elevations of liver aminotransferases but is historically thought to rarely cause significant hepatotoxicity. Underlying liver disease is a risk factor for drug-induced liver injury and may complicate the differential diagnosis of acute transaminitis in patients taking medications associated with hepatotoxicity. Ms L presented with 2 months of new psychotic symptoms resulting in hospitalizations.

A randomized neonatal piglet trial was conducted to evaluate the safety and the effects of a plant-based formula containing almonds and buckwheat as the main ingredients on growth and plasma parameters. From postnatal day (PND) 2 to 21, the piglets were fed a dairy-based milk formula (Similac Advance) or a plant-based formula (Else Nutrition) and all piglets were euthanized at day 21. No diarrhea was observed after PND 8 and all the piglets completed the trial.

Dysregulation of phosphoinositide 3-kinase δ (PI3Kδ) signaling pathway has been implicated in the pathogenesis of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. Parsaclisib (INCB050465) represents a potent and selective PI3Kδ inhibitor, which is being clinically investigated for treatment of autoimmune hemolytic anemia and hematological malignancies. We characterized the potential of parsaclisib to ameliorate autoimmune mechanisms implicated in the pathophysiology of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and Sjögren's syndrome (SS).

The goal of this study was to elucidate the anti-pruritic and anti-inflammatory efficacy of ruxolitinib cream in experimentally-induced dermatitis. Atopic dermatitis (AD), the most common chronic relapsing inflammatory skin disease, significantly impairs patients' quality of life, with pruritus being a common complaint. The sensation of itch results from the interplay between epidermal barrier dysfunction, upregulated immune signaling and the activation of the central nervous system.

Consumer wearable devices that continuously measure vital signs have been used to monitor the onset of infectious disease. Here, we show that data from consumer smartwatches can be used for the pre-symptomatic detection of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). We analysed physiological and activity data from 32 individuals infected with COVID-19, identified from a cohort of nearly 5,300 participants, and found that 26 of them (81%) had alterations in their heart rate, number of daily steps or time asleep.

The non-obese diabetic (NOD) mouse model is the most widely described and validated method for investigating human primary Sjögren's syndrome (SS) and represents a useful model for translational studies. However, the systemic disease manifestation in NOD mice is sensitive to the housing environment, as stress modulates the immune system, so it is essential to confirm that readouts are robust, reproducible, and sensitive to known clinical treatments. This protocol describes the establishment of the spontaneous NOD model of SS and underscores the necessity of model validation to ensure that the housing environment is compatible.
