Marginal enamel fractures (MEF) are a common clinical concern in dentistry, particularly in anterior teeth. These fractures occur at the enamel margins and their etiopathogenesis involves a complex interplay of mechanical, chemical, and biological factors. The ongoing research focuses on an overview of MEF to improve the knowledge about this condition.

In patients with cleft lip and palate the most common associated dental problem is lateral incisor agenesis, often associated with lack of support and definition of the nasal tip. In many cases, adhesions deriving from surgical procedures and skeletal discrepancy make orthognathic surgery and rhinoseptoplasty unavoidable. In the present case report a dental rehabilitation with canine substitution and prosthetic-implant treatment in a posterior area is described.

Background: It is quite common for white spots to develop on a tooth, due sometimes to a defective formation of the enamel layer, and sometimes to patches of demineralisation as a result of poor oral hygiene during orthodontic treatment with fixed braces. ICON DMG is currently the only noninvasive treatment for white spots. After a preliminary etching, it infiltrates the enamel, filling the spaces between the prisms with a resinous material that has a refraction coefficient very similar to that of healthy tooth enamel.

Background: The management of eruption anomalies affecting second molars, although quite uncommon, may represent a real challenge for the clinician. The aim of this study is to present a novel technique that combines the surgical and orthodontic approach in order to obtain the retrieval of impacted second molars through a complex distalizing movement and skeletal anchorage.

Methods: Nineteen consecutive patients with impacted second molars were treated according to this technique, which involved extraction of the third molar followed by the placement of a distally positioned screw, and the subsequent use of a coil spring to connect the screw to an eyelet directly bonded on the second molar.

Background: Prompt diagnosis and treatment of malaria contributes to reduced morbidity, particularly among children and pregnant women; however, in Madagascar, care-seeking for febrile illness is often delayed. To describe factors influencing decisions for prompt care-seeking among caregivers of children aged < 15 years and pregnant women, a mixed-methods assessment was conducted with providers (HP), community health volunteers (CHV) and community members.

Methods: One health district from each of eight malaria-endemic zones of Madagascar were purposefully selected based on reported higher malaria transmission.

Background: Experimental studies have shown a progressive thinning and perforations of the sinus mucosa associated with sharpened edges and the cutting projections of graft particles used simultaneously for maxillary sinus augmentation. Hence, the aim of the present study was to evaluate the damaging effects of two different bovine grafts on the sinus mucosa after sinus augmentation.

Methods: Twenty New Zealand rabbits received a bilateral sinus lifting using, as fillers, two different types of deproteinized bovine bone in granules, one processed at low temperature (low-T group), and the other at high temperature (high-T group).

The polymer structure of thermoplastic materials currently used to make aligners is altered by the oral conditions and this negatively affects their capacity to move teeth. This study aimed to compare different options for storing aligners when not in use by superimposing successive 3D images to identify which storage method least affects material shape and weight. Fifty PET-G aligners, produced using the CA Digital method, were divided into four groups (1A, 1B, 1C, and 2D) and were stored for 18 h a day in artificial saliva at 37 °C.

Background: Helping Babies Breathe (HBB) is a competency-based educational method for an evidence-based protocol to manage birth asphyxia in low resource settings. HBB has been shown to improve health worker skills and neonatal outcomes, but studies have documented problems with skills retention and little evidence of effectiveness at large scale in routine practice. This study examined the effect of complementing provider training with clinical mentorship and quality improvement as outlined in the second edition HBB materials.
