A promising water treatment method involves using biomass-derived activated carbon (AC) to remove emerging pollutants from wastewater due to its adsorption capacity, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability. Notwithstanding, the existing literature lacks comprehensive studies that specifically focus on removing contaminants in water by comparing the effectiveness of adsorption and photocatalytic degradation methods. Additionally, there is not much emphasis on analyzing the combined processes of adsorption-photocatalytic degradation utilizing AC.

We conducted a comprehensive bibliometric analysis using the Scopus database to investigate collaborative neurosurgical research between HIC institutions and those in low-income country (LIC)/LMICs.

Introduction: Oesophageal atresia (EA) is a life-threatening congenital oesophageal deformity that causes considerable newborn morbidity and death. Many prognostic variables have been linked to the survival of infants with EA, although the results of the studies are still conflicting. Furthermore, studies on EA effects in developing countries still need to be included.

Post-surgical complications of supernumerary teeth in the mandibular premolar area: A systematic review.

In the mandibular premolar area, supernumerary teeth are a rare disorder that are rarely documented in the literature. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the post-surgical problems associated with the buccal and lingual techniques used to treat the extra teeth in this area. Using PubMed, PubMed Central, Science Direct, Cochrane, Wiley, and manual search, a thorough search was done to locate and identify cases and case series with extra teeth in the mandibular premolar region.

Challenges in the diagnosis and treatment of pure non-gestational uterine choriocarcinoma in a child: a case report.

Background: Diagnosing non-gestational uterine choriocarcinoma in children is challenging because of its rarity and nonspecific imaging findings. Herein, we report a case of non-gestational uterine choriocarcinoma in a child, which was unexpectedly found during exploratory laparotomy and confirmed by histopathological findings. However, the tumor did not respond to chemotherapy.

Adult human neurogenesis: A view from two schools of thought.

Are we truly losing neurons as we grow older? If yes, why, and how can the lost neurons be replaced or compensated for? Is so-called adult neurogenesis (ANG) still a controversial process, particularly in the human cerebral cortex? How do adult-born neurons -if proven to exist- contribute to brain functions? Is adult neurogenesis a disease-relevant process, meaning that neural progenitor cells are dormant in adulthood, but they may be reactivated, for example, following stroke? Is the earnest hope to cure neurological diseases justifying the readiness to accept ANG claim uncritically? These are all fundamental issues that have not yet been firmly explained. Although it is completely understandable that some researchers believe that we can add new neurons to our inevitably deteriorating brain, the brain regeneration process still possesses intellectually and experimentally diverting views, as until now, there has been significant confusion about the concept of ANG. This paper is not intended to be an extensively analytical review distilling all findings and conclusions presented in the ANG literature.

Case Series of Hepatosplenic T-Cell Lymphoma: A Rare and Aggressive Disease.

Hepatosplenic T-cell lymphoma is a rare form of T-cell lymphoma that predominantly emerges from neoplastic proliferation of cytotoxic T cells of γ/δ T-cell receptor-expressing lymphocytes. Isochromosome 7q and trisomy 8 are the most prevalent chromosomal abnormalities associated with hepatosplenic T-cell lymphoma, and most patients have mutations in genes related to chromatin remodeling or the JAK/STAT system. Hepatosplenic T-cell lymphoma can mimic various infectious diseases, immunological conditions, and other malignancies.

Comparing the effect of tissue adhesive and suturing material on collagen I/III ratio in abdominal skin wounds: an experimental study.

Background: The skin closure procedure should be technically simple, acceptable, quick, and cost-effective. Sutures remain the technique's mainstay, however tissue adhesive is becoming more used in clinical practice. Collagen ratios of types I and III play a significant role as postoperative wound healing parameters.

An In Vitro Study of Chitosan-Coated Bovine Pericardium as a Dural Substitute Candidate.

Defects in the dura matter can be caused by head injury, and many cases require neurosurgeons to use artificial dura matter. Bovine pericardium is an option due to its abundant availability, adjustable size and characteristics, and because it has more collagen than porcine or equine pericardia. Nevertheless, the drawback of bovine pericardium is that it has a higher inflammatory effect than other synthetic dura matters.
