Introduction: Inadequate decongestion remains an unmet need in the management of patients with heart failure. The concept of door-to-diuretic (D2D) time to improve outcomes has been proposed for patients with heart failure (HF), but the trial results have been mixed.
Methods: We utilized Preferred Reporting Instrument for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis Extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR) for scoping reviews with an extensive a priori search strategy for databases: PubMed and Scopus between January 2015 and November 2023.
Objective: To identify the incidence and prevalence of type 1 Brugada pattern at Mayo Clinic during 30 years.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the electronic medical records from 1992 to 2021 at Mayo Clinic Enterprise. Patients with type 1 Brugada pattern electrocardiogram (ECG) were identified by a systematic keyword search.
Ebstein's anomaly (EA) is a rare cyanotic form of congenital heart disease (CHD) characterized by apical displacement of the tricuspid valve, with resultant hemodynamic and electrical manifestations. The severity of symptoms is determined by the degree of apical displacement and deformity and incompetence of the tricuspid valve. As a result, patients with EA can be severely symptomatic during infancy and childhood or can be incidentally discovered in the sixth or seventh decade of life.

Electrophysiology study demonstrated inducible sustained monomorphic VT requiring subcutaneous implantable cardioverter-defibrillator implantation. This highlights the arrhythmogenic potential of residual scar after resolution of cardiac masses.

However, given the growing costs and complexities of early-phase trials, trial activation and enrollment barriers may be greatest for these studies at healthcare facilities that provide care to the most diverse patient groups, including those in historically underserved communities (e.g.

This study aimed to evaluate the procedural outcomes among those aged 18-64 years versus those aged ≥65 years who underwent catheter ablation of VT.
Method: Using the Nationwide Readmissions Database, our study included patients aged ≥18 years who underwent VT catheter ablation between 2017 and 2020.
Background: Pectus excavatum (PEx) can cause cardiopulmonary limitations due to cardiac compression and displacement. There is limited data on electrocardiogram (ECG) alterations before and after PEx surgical repair, and ECG findings suggesting cardiopulmonary limitations have not been reported. The aim of this study is to explore ECG manifestations of PEx before and after surgery including associations with exercise capacity.

ECG revealed a narrow complex tachycardia with a rate of 163 beats per minute with a short RP relationship. She had salvos of atrial tachycardia which led to a severe reduction in ejection fraction as noted on echocardiography and hemodynamic instability.

The importance of primary prevention of sudden cardiac death (SCD) in Brugada syndrome is well recognized; however, ventricular arrhythmia risk stratification remains challenging and controversial. We aimed to assess the association of type of syncope with MAE via systematic review and meta-analysis.

Using a belzutifan analogue (PT2399), we previously showed in tumorgrafts (TG) that ∼50% of clear cell renal cell carcinomas (ccRCC) are HIF2α dependent. However, prolonged treatment induced resistance mutations, which we also identified in humans.

Despite these advances, cardiovascular disease remains a leading cause of death in cancer survivors. Cardio-oncology has recently evolved as a subspecialty to prevent, diagnose, and manage cardiovascular side effects of antineoplastic therapy.

We sought to better define the effect thrombocytopenia on clinical outcomes in ACS patients.
Methods: Patients identified from the NCDR Chest Pain registry at Mayo Clinic Arizona from Oct 2015 to Sep 2018 were retrospectively classified into two groups: TP (platelet <150 × 10 μL) and control (platelet ≥150 × 10 μL).
As many novel cancer therapies continue to emerge, the field of Cardio-Oncology (or onco-cardiology) has become crucial to prevent, monitor and treat cancer therapy-related cardiovascular toxicity. Furthermore, given the narrow therapeutic window of most cancer therapies, drug-drug interactions are prevalent in the cancer population. Consequently, there is an increased risk of affecting drug efficacy or predisposing individual patients to adverse side effects.

Although considered undruggable, structural analyses at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW, Dallas, TX) identified a vulnerability in the α subunit, which heterodimerizes with HIF1β, ultimately leading to the development of PT2385, a first-in-class inhibitor. PT2385 was safe and active in a first-in-human phase I clinical trial of patients with extensively pretreated ccRCC at UTSW and elsewhere.

Objectives: To determine the prevalence of bacteraemia amongst children with febrile seizures at the children's emergency room of the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria.
Methodos: This was a prospective study involving 147 children who were presented with febrile seizures over a period of 13 months at the University College Hospital Ibadan.
Background: NAD(P)H:quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1) is a two-electron oxidoreductase expressed in multiple tumour types. ARQ 761 is a β-lapachone (β-lap) analogue that exploits the unique elevation of NQO1 found in solid tumours to cause tumour-specific cell death.
Methods: We performed a 3+3 dose escalation study of 3 schedules (weekly, every other week, 2/3 weeks) of ARQ 761 in patients with refractory advanced solid tumours.
Appointment-keeping behavior is an important requisite for HCV linkage and treatment initiation. In this study we examine what impact hepatitis C (HCV) knowledge and attitudes has on appointment-keeping behavior among a cohort of HCV and HCV/HIV patients. Knowledge scores and attitude scales, obtained from a cross-sectional survey, were correlated with proportion of appointments kept 1 year prior to taking the survey.

This study used a cross-sectional survey to examine the relationship between HCV knowledge and attitudes towards HCV in patients with HCV mono-infection and HIV/HCV co-infection. Subsequently, an education intervention was developed with an abridged version of the cross-sectional survey administered before and after the education session to assess changes in knowledge and attitudes.

Modification of the score to reflect local disease burden is discussed, as are its intended interpretations. Extensive data collection on up-to-date equipment and personnel resources must be undertaken before the MTS can become useful as a policy-relevant tool.

Objectives: To determine the steady state haematocrit, liver size and spleen size in children with sickle cell disease and the factors that influence them.
Methods: This was a retrospective study of children with sickle cell disorders who attended the anaemia clinic of the Children's Outpatient Department, University College Hospital, Ibadan between the years 2000-2009.
Background: Febrile seizures are commonly encountered in emergency paediatric practice. Initial pre-hospital intervention given by caregivers has been shown to impact outcome.
Objectives: To describe the spectrum of pre-hospital interventions given for the treatment of childhood febrile seizures in Ibadan, Nigeria.
In order to determine the age at diagnosis of sickle cell disease and some of the factors that influence the same at the University College Hospital Ibadan, a retrospective study of children with sickle cell disease who attended the children's outpatient department of the hospital between June 2000 and June 2009 was conducted by reviewing their case notes. A total of 457 children were studied (Male: Female ratio 1.1:1).
