Practices and attitudes of adult psychiatrists regarding methamphetamine-associated psychotic disorder: an internet based survey conducted in Turkey.

Background: Many variables may affect approaches of psychiatrists to methamphetamine-associated psychotic disorder (MAP) treatment. This study was aimed to reach adult psychiatrists actively practicing in Turkey through an internet-based survey and to determine their practices and attitudes to MAP treatment.

Methods: In this internet-based study, participants were divided into three groups based on their answers: Those who do not follow-up any MAP patient were group 1 (n = 78), partially involved in the treatment process of at least one patient diagnosed with MAP were group 2 (n = 128), completely involved in the treatment process of at least one patient diagnosed with MAP were group 3 (n = 202).

Serum Levels of Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor-1 in Patients with Parkinson's Disease.

Objectives: The aim of the study was to investigate serum plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) levels of patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) and their relationship with clinical findings and treatment of disease.

Methods: The study included 125 PD patients and 48 healthy controls. Patients have been taking effective dopaminergic treatment regularly.

Augmented reality (AR) of neurovascular structures was introduced especially in the resection of brain tumors or aneurysmatic operations.

Clinical and Educational Aspects of Neuroimaging in Microsurgery of the Posterior Fossa: A Comprehensive Review.

The clinical and educational value of modern high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and image processing in neurovascular diseases of the posterior fossa with regard to preoperative planning and intraoperative comparison with the actual anatomical situation was consecutively evaluated. Patients with trigeminal neuralgia (TN), hemifacial spasm (HFS), glossopharyngeal neuralgia (GN) and arterial hypertension (HTN) were analyzed. The high-resolution MRI data was segmented and visualized three-dimensionally using computer graphics methods.

Neurooncological Rehabilitation in Diffuse Gliomas.

Background: With the further advancement of surgical technology and modern tumor-targeted treatment strategies, longer survival rates can be achieved in diffuse gliomas. Pre- and post-therapeutic physical and cognitive deficits are frequently associated with gliomas. The clinical impact of physical therapy and rehabilitation on neurooncological disorders has not been analyzed consecutively.

Exploring the Potential Impact of Training on Short-Term Quality of Life and Stress of Parents of Children with Autism: The Integrative Parents' Autism Training Module.

Parents of autistic children experience high levels of parental stress and low quality of life related to the demanding child caring burden they experience. Parent education and training programs are acknowledged to improve parental well-being and reduce parenting stress. In the framework of the Erasmus+ Integrative Autism Parents Training Project (IPAT), we developed the IPAT Training Module based on parents' expressed needs, in order to improve parental quality of life (QoL) and decrease their perceived stress.

In Situ Microstructure Modification Using a Layerwise Surface-Preheating Laser Scan of Ti-6Al-4V during Laser Powder Bed Fusion.

An innovative in situ thermal approach in the domain of LPBF for Ti-6Al-4V fabrication has been carried out with results directing towards an improved fatigue life without the need for post-processing. The thermal process involves an additional laser scan with different process parameters to preheat the selected regions of each layer of the powder bed prior to their full melting. This preheating step influences the cooling rate, which in turn affects surface characteristics and subsurface microstructure, both of which are directly correlated with fatigue properties.

Pediatric Diffuse Leptomeningeal Glioneuronal Tumors: Diagnosis, Follow-up, and Treatment Options.

Aim: To highlight the diagnosis, follow-up, and treatment options for diffuse leptomeningeal glioneuronal tumor (DLGNT) by examining pediatric patients diagnosed with DLGNT by molecular pathological evaluation and next generation sequencing at our center.

Material And Methods: In this retrospective analysis, patients diagnosed with DLGNT between January 2017 and December 2022 are outlined according to their demographic data, radiological data, pathology results, treatments, and follow-up data.

Results: Four patients were diagnosed with DLGNT.

Acute Extrapyramidal Side Effects Associated With the Combined Use of Low Doses of Haloperidol and Clarithromycin.

Extrapyramidal side effects (EPS) are one of the major side effects that may frequently occur in the use of antipsychotics. EPS may cause distress and worsen the psychopathological condition. In this paper, we report a case of a 12-year-old boy with tic disorders who developed EPS after using haloperidol and clarithromycin combined.

Interaction of contour geometry and optic flow in determining relative depth of surfaces.

Dynamic occlusion, such as the accretion and deletion of texture near a boundary, is a major factor in determining relative depth of surfaces. However, the shape of the contour bounding the dynamic texture can significantly influence what kind of 3D shape, and what relative depth, are conveyed by the optic flow. This can lead to percepts that are inconsistent with traditional accounts of shape and depth from motion, where accreting/deleting texture can indicate the figural region, and/or 3D rotation can be perceived despite the constant speed of the optic flow.

The effects of visual distractors on serial dependence.

Attractive serial dependence occurs when perceptual decisions are attracted toward previous stimuli. This effect is mediated by spatial attention and is most likely to occur when similar stimuli are attended at nearby locations. Attention, however, also involves the suppression of distracting information and of spatial locations where distracting stimuli have frequently appeared.

Evaluation of pulmonary side effects in prolactinoma patients treated with cabergoline.

Introduction: Cabergoline (CAB) is the most used dopamine agonist in the treatment of prolactinomas. Studies related to the treatment of Parkinson's disease have shown that dopamine agonists can lead to fibrotic syndromes affecting the heart and the lung. The aim of this study was to evaluate the possible pulmonary side effects of CAB in prolactinoma patients.

High grade tumor budding is associated with poor survival in pathologic stage I lung adenocarcinoma.

Aim: Tumor budding is a significant prognostic parameter that has been related to aggressive behavior in early-stage tumors of various origins. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinicopathological significance of tumor budding in pathologic stage (pStage) I lung adenocarcinomas.

Methods: This study comprised 107 patients who underwent curative resection for pStage I lung adenocarcinomas at our hospital between December 2010 and January 2016.

Identifying inflammatory biomarkers for methamphetamine use disorder may be useful for following the inflammatory status of patients in clinical assessment. In this study, we aimed to investigate whether neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR), monocyte/lymphocyte ratio (MLR), C-reactive protein/albumin ratio (CAR) and neutrophil/albumin ratio (NAR) levels can be used as inflammatory biomarkers in methamphetamine use disorder.

Prevalence and determinants of post-traumatic stress disorder in patients with schizophrenia 2 years after an earthquake in Turkey.

Objectives: High rates of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) have been observed in earthquake survivors many years after the event. However, its prevalence among patients with schizophrenia is largely unknown. This study, which was conducted two years after the 2020 Elazığ earthquake, sought to identify risk factors for earthquake-related PTSD among patients with schizophrenia and healthy subjects.
