Background: Depression is the most common psychiatric disorder in older adults, even though it is commonly misdiagnosed and undertreated, leading to exacerbations of preexisting medical conditions and even a higher mortality rate. In the present systematic review with meta-analysis, we quantify the magnitude of depression and its associated risk factors among the older adult population in Egypt.
Methods: A thorough literature search was performed from 2010 up to October 2023.
Context: Insulin resistance and a disturbed lipid profile are common associations with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and different skin diseases, particularly psoriasis (PsO).
Objectives: We investigated potential therapeutic mechanisms of metformin in a murine animal model of psoriasiform lesions in T2DM.
Materials And Methods: Forty-two rats were randomly divided into control, PsO, and type II DM (T2DM) groups.
Fibromyalgia (FM), a musculoskeletal condition characterized by widespread pain and numerous associated symptoms, is a complex disorder with uncertain etiology and pathogenesis. Most of the patients suffering from this syndrome are undiagnosed due to a lack of standard diagnostic criteria. Recent studies have shown the involvement of immune dysfunction and various pro-inflammatory cytokines in FM.

We aimed to assess the prevalence, types, reasons, perceived effectiveness, and disclosure rate of T&CM use among children with cancer in Southern Egypt. We also investigated whether T&CM use contributed to delays in initial presentation and treatment.

Acne vulgaris, a prevalent skin condition, arises from an imbalance in skin flora, fostering bacterial overgrowth. Addressing this issue, clindamycin molecularly imprinted polymeric nanoparticles (Clin-MIP) loaded onto polyurethane nanofiber scaffolds were developed for acne treatment. Clin-MIP was synthesized via precipitation polymerization using methacrylic acid (MAA), ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA), and azoisobutyronitrile (AIBN) as functional monomers, crosslinkers, and free-radical initiators, respectively.

This study aimed to assess the prophylactic effects of Berberine on experimentally induced lung sepsis and examine its effects on selected cytokines, genes, and protein expression besides the histopathological evaluation. Berberine significantly reduced the wet/dry lung ratio, the broncho-alveolar lavage fluid (BALF) protein, cells, neutrophils percentage, and cytokines levels. In addition, pretreatment with Berberine decreased the myeloperoxidase (MPO) and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels and decreased gene expression of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB), monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1), and the intracellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1) by RT-qPCR analysis, revealing Berberine's antioxidant and anti-inflammatory mode of action.

Aim Of Work: The study investigated the pathogenesis of PQ-induced neuroinflammation of the substantia nigra pars compacta (SNPC) and cerebellum and evaluated the potential effect of selenium nanoparticles (SeN) against such neurotoxicity.
Several RCTs have reported significant reductions in depression symptoms with the Mediterranean diet (MedDiet), but observational studies have reported inconsistent findings. Moreover, studies have rarely investigated the mediating role of socioeconomic status (SES), including objective material status, in adherence to the MedDiet and its impact on depressive symptoms in the same population. Therefore, this cross-sectional study investigated the relationship between adherence to the MedDiet, socioeconomic factors, and depression severity.

Olive leaf is an herbal remedy with a potential antiviral activity that could improve the recovery of COVID-19 patients. In this work, the olive leaves major metabolites were screened in silico for their activity against SARS-CoV-2 by molecular docking on several viral targets such as methyl transferase, helicase, Plpro, Mpro, and RdRp.

This study aimed to investigate the association between phthalate exposure and CHD and determine the possible atherogenic mechanisms of phthalates by assessing oxidative stress and altering miRNA expression. This case-control study included 110 participants (55 CHD patients and 55 healthy controls).

Background: Diabetes Mellitus is a multisystem chronic pandemic, wound inflammation, and healing are still major issues for diabetic patients who may suffer from ulcers, gangrene, and other wounds from uncontrolled chronic hyperglycemia. contain bioactive compounds such as flavonoids and phenolics that support wound healing via antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties. Our study aimed to develop a combination of eco-friendly formulations of green synthesis of ZnO-NPs by extract and further incorporate them into 2% chitosan (CS) gel.

Unlike microbiota, parasites are characteristically reliant on their hosts to thrive and flourish, producing toxic metabolites that agitate microbiota and disturb homeostasis. The proper management of parasitic infections addresses several important challenges related to low socioeconomic status and emergent resistance.

Based on Sunitinib, the FDA-approved VEGFR-2 inhibitor, novel indolin-2-one-triazole hybrids were designed and synthesized as anti-hepatocellular and anti-pancreatic cancer agents with VEGFR-2 inhibitory activity. All the targeted compounds were assessed for their anti-cancer activity, revealing IC values extending from 0.

This may result in an overestimation of the prevalence of those experiencing PCC, as these symptoms are non-specific and common in the general population. In this study, we aimed to compare the burden of persistent symptoms among COVID-19 survivors relative to COVID-19-negative controls.
