Background And Aims: Egypt has a wide prevalence of Diabetes and chronic HCV infection. The relationship between diabetes and HCV is bidirectional and both have their impact on kidney. The aim is to study the exact diagnostic and prognostic significance of renal biopsy in Diabetic HCV-infected patients with renal disease.

We evaluated the early and long-term role of human adipose derived mesenchymal stem cells (ADMSCs) in prevention or amelioration of cisplatin induced acute kidney injury (AKI) in Sprague-Dawley rats. For this, we determined the kidney tissue level of oxidative stress markers in conjugation with a renal histopathological scoring system of both acute and chronic renal changes.

Ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) remains one of the leading causes of AKI in native and transplanted kidneys. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ADSCs) in the prevention of renal IRI in rats.

This study retrospectively investigates the indications and results of renal biopsy in children to determine the patterns of childhood kidney disease in a single tertiary children's hospital in Egypt. We included all the patients who underwent ultrasound-guided renal biopsy from 1998 to 2012. All the kidney biopsies were studied under light microscopy, while immunofluorescence and electron microscopy were performed when indicated.

Methods: 60 male Sprague-Dawley rats were distributed among 3 groups (20 rats each): (i) the negative control group, which was normal rats that received saline (vehicle); (ii) the positive control (ADR) group, which was rats that received 2 intravenous injections of ADR into the penile vein at 14 day intervals without treatment, and (iii) the MSC group, which were rats treated as for the ADR group that were also given 2 intravenous injections of MSCs (5 days after each ADR injection).
Results: ADR caused a significant reduction in animal body mass, survival rate, hemoglobin (Hb) content, serum albumin, and renal GSH, and significantly increased serum levels of triglycerides, cholesterol, urinary protein excretion and kidney injury molecule-1 (KIM-1), renal MDA, as well as caspase-3 expression and glomerular and tubulointerstitial damage compared with the negative control group.
In this study 43 patients with idiopathic nephrotic syndrome were randomly distributed into 2 age- and sex-matched groups. The first group was given fluvastatin while the second was used as control. The cases in the 2 groups were evaluated clinically, biochemically (creatinine clearance, albumin, 24-hour proteinuria, and lipogram), neurologically, and histopathologically (examination of renal biopsies obtained basally and after 1 year of treatment with fluvastatin).
