Recurrent Immune Thrombocytopenia After Liver Transplantation in a Pediatric Patient: Successful Bridging Treatment With Eltrombopag Before Partial Splenic Embolization and Review of the Literature.

Although thrombocytopenia is a frequent complication that develops after liver transplantation, immune thrombocytopenia rarely occurs post-transplant. We present an 8-year-old boy who experienced 2 immune thrombocytopenia episodes that occurred 72 and 93 months after liver transplant while the patient was on tacrolimus therapy. The patient, who had primary diagnosis being deoxyguanosine kinase deficiency, received a liver transplant from his father at 1 year of age.

Posttransplant Lymphoproliferative Disorder in Pediatric Solid-Organ Transplant Recipients: A 7-Year Single-Center Analysis.

Objectives: Posttransplant lymphoproliferative disorder is a consequential complication following solid-organ transplant, particularly associated with the Epstein-Barr virus. We studied a single center's cases of pediatric posttransplant lymphoproliferative disorder for a 7-year period and focused on incidence rates, anatomic sites involved, and correlation with clinical outcomes. We explored clinical features and treatment outcomes in patients with pediatric posttransplant lymphoproliferative disorder, with emphasis on patient survival and associated clinical ramifications.

Anti-human leukocyte antigen-DPB1 antibody-associated transfusion-related acute lung injury after hematopoietic stem cell infusion.

Although relatively rare among transfusion reactions, transfusion-related acute lung injury (TRALI) is a life-threatening condition, making its prevention, recognition, and early intervention extremely important. Although many etiological factors have been identified, the most common reasons are anti-human leukocyte antigen (anti-HLA) and anti-human neutrophil antigen antibodies that pass from the donor to the recipient during transfusion. TRALI was shown with transfusion of all kinds of blood products, however, it is rarely seen after stem cell infusion.

Persistent Hyperinsulinemic Hypoglycemia with Pancreatic Teratoma in Infancy: A Case Report.

BACKGROUND Pediatric intraabdominal pancreatic teratomas have been rarely reported. This is the first case of severe hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia in a 6-month-old infant secondary to an intraabdominal teratoma. The hypoglycemia resolved after surgical removal.
