Psychometric properties of the Viking Speech Scale-Turkish version for children with cerebral palsy aged 4-18 years based on live and video-based observation.

Background: Speech is the most common method of communication. Video-based clinical communication evaluation is a requirement for children with speech-language impairments living in rural areas, and those who have limited mobility.

Aims: To determine the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Viking Speech Scale (VSS-T) via live and video-based observation for children with cerebral palsy (CP) aged 4-18 years.

Assessment of the visual pathways in patients with neurofibromatosis-1 by 3S-space technique with 3-Tesla MRI.

Background/aim/aim: We aimed to evaluate the size/tortuosity of the optic nerve (ON) and the dilatation of the ON sheath (ONS) in neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF-1) patients with 3T-MRI, and to assess the usefulness of 3D-SPACE in imaging the optic pathway, ON, and ONS in NF-1 patients.

Materials And Methods: Twenty consecutive NF-1 patients without optic pathway glioma (OPG) (Group 1), 16 consecutive NF-1 patients with OPG (Group 2), and 19 controls were included in this study. The thickness and tortuosity of the ON and the diameter of the ONS were measured on STIR and 3D-SPACE images.

Evaluation of apoptotic cell death following transient maternal hypotension in fetal rat brain: temporal pattern within the first 24 h after procedure.

Background/aim: To explore the effects of maternal transient systemic hypotension on apoptotic neuronal death in an intrauterine fetal rat brain during the first 24 h after induction of hypotension.

Materials And Methods: A total of 40 pregnant Sprague-Dawley rats were subjected to either transient systemic hypotension produced for 30 min by blood withdrawal via femoral artery catheterization (hypotension group) or sham operation (control group) on day 15. Two randomly selected fetuses were taken from each rat at 0, 6, 12, and 24 h after the procedure.
