Background: The proposed research study introduces independent concentration extraction (ICE) as a novel UV-Vis spectrophotometric approach. The approach can be used for extracting the concentration of two analytes with severely overlapped spectra from their binary mixtures. Simultaneously, the suggested approach was used to detect the synchronous fluorescence intensity of the cited drugs at Δ λ = 80 nm in ethanol to determine the concentrations of olmesartan medoxomil and rosuvastatin calcium at 265 and 240 nm, respectively. Various experimental conditions were tested, and each variable was analyzed and optimized.

The first method was based on chromatographic separation performed on precoated silica gel 60 GF254 plates with ethyl acetate-ethanol 9: 1 (v/v) as the mobile phase. The developed plates were scanned and quantified at 260 nm.
