Despite increased availability of effective drug therapy for treatment of heart failure (HF), the morbidity and mortality in chronic heart failure (CHF) are unacceptably high. Therefore, there is an urgent need to ascertain new imaging techniques to identify early sub-clinical forms of cardiac dysfunctions, to guide early relevant treatment. It seems that all the behavioral risk factors-such as tobacco, alcoholism, Western-type diet, sedentary behavior and obesity, emotional disorders, and sleep disorder are associated with early cardiac dysfunction, which may be identified by speckle-tracking echocardiography (STE).

Magnesium is an essential nutrient for various physiological processes and becomes even more vital during pregnancy, contributing to muscle relaxation, bone development, electrolyte balance, and blood pressure regulation. Despite the fact that the dietary sources of magnesium are diversified, it is still challenging to obtain it in sufficient quantities during pregnancy. We have elucidated its interactions and its specific impact on maternal-fetal health in different research publications.

This article explores the Human Monkeypox Virus (MPV), a contagious virus that causes disease in both vertebrates and insects. It originated in Denmark in 1958 and expanded beyond Africa during the 1970s. The virus was initially detected in the United States in 2003 following the hospitalisation of a toddler who had been bitten by a prairie dog.

Article Synopsis
  • The Western diet contributes to oxidative stress and inflammation, increasing the risk of cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes, while the Mediterranean diet, rich in antioxidants, offers protective benefits.
  • The production of molecular hydrogen in the gut, supported by fiber, flavonoids, and probiotics, acts as a powerful antioxidant, potentially reducing inflammation and oxidative stress.
  • Recent studies suggest that both naturally produced and artificially administered molecular hydrogen have therapeutic effects in managing cardiovascular diseases and metabolic disorders, but further research is needed to confirm these findings on a larger scale.

Purpose: This retrospective observational study aimed to comprehensively analyse the clinical profile and treatment modalities of patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) who were treated at a tertiary care centre.

Methods: The study included a cohort of 300 individuals who sought medical care at the hospital from January 2023 to January 2024. The analysis primarily examined parameters such as the mean number of anti-diabetic medications per prescription, the proportion of various categories of anti-diabetic medications prescribed, the predominant class and type of anti-diabetic medications prescribed, and the proportion of anti-diabetic medications prescribed from the essential drug lists.

The motivation for constructing a thin-shell wormhole from a (2+1)-dimensional rotating black hole arises from the desire to study the effects of a nonminimally coupled scalar field in this particular spacetime. By investigating the behavior of such a field in the presence of rotation, we can gain insights into the interplay between gravity and scalar fields in lower-dimensional systems. Additionally, this construction allows us to explore potential connections between black hole physics and exotic phenomena like traversable wormholes.

Sheep pox and goat pox are infectious viral diseases that affect ovine and caprine animals and are caused by two viruses of the family , genus . Sheep pox has been traditionally endemic in Africa, the Middle East, and several Southeast Asian countries, but it is considered a transboundary disease capable of affecting previously free countries epidemically. It is a disease of compulsory immediate notification to the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) and the European Union (EU).

Objective: To determine the effects of the cervicothoracic mobility programme on pain, range of motion and function in patients with chronic back pain.

Methods: The randomised controlled trial was conducted from April to November 2022 at the Physiotherapy Department of Syed Medical Complex, Sialkot, Pakistan, and comprised patients of either gender aged 18-50 years who had a minimum of 6 months of chronic back pain with moderate disability. They were randomly allocated to experimental group A and control group B.

The monkeypox virus (MPXV), responsible for human disease, has historically been limited to the African countries, with only a few isolated instances reported elsewhere in the world. Nevertheless, in recent years, there have been occurrences of monkeypox in regions where the disease is typically absent, which has garnered global interest. Within a period of less than four months, the incidence of MPXV infections has surged to over 48,000 cases, resulting in a total of 13 deaths.

The telecom sector is currently undergoing a digital transformation by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. Customer retention in this context relies on the application of autonomous AI methods for analyzing IoT device data patterns in relation to the offered service packages. One significant challenge in existing studies is treating churn recognition and customer segmentation as separate tasks, which diminishes overall system accuracy.

Aurora kinases (AURKs) have been identified as promising biological targets for the treatment of cancer. In this study, molecular dynamics simulations were employed to investigate the binding selectivity of three inhibitors (HPM, MPY, and VX6) towards AURKA and AURKB by predicting their binding free energies. The results show that the inhibitors HPM, MPY, and VX6 have more favorable interactions with AURKB as compared to AURKA.

Atherosclerosis as a chronic inflammatory disorder is accompanied with oxidative stress which causes a high morbidity and mortality. Adhesion molecules, including intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1), vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1), P-selectin, and E-selectin, are amongst the most important contributors in atherosclerosis. In such cases, dietary interventions with functional foods containing natural antioxidant and anti-inflammatory constituents are of a great interest.

Background: Recently, chronic lung diseases have been found to be associated with marked inflammation and oxidative stress, which leads to fibrosis in the lungs and chronic respiratory failure. This study aims to determine if hydrogen-rich water (HRW) can enhance oxygen saturation among patients with chronic lung diseases.

Methods: Ten patients with chronic lung diseases due to COPD ( = 7), bronchial asthma ( = 2), and tuberculosis of the lung ( = 1) with oxygen saturation of 90-95% were provided high-concentration (>5 mM) HRW using H-producing tablets for 4 weeks.
