Article Synopsis
  • Fertility and infertility are complex medical issues, with herbal products like celery (Apium graveolens L.) being explored as potential alternatives to synthetic drugs for treating fertility.
  • A systematic review of studies found that while 13 out of 16 examined studies indicated positive effects of celery on fertility, three studies reported negative effects, highlighting the variability in results based on treatment duration and dosage.
  • Celery may protect against certain substances harmful to testicular health and sperm production, but caution is advised because compounds like apigenin in celery could have inhibitory effects on fertility with excessive or long-term use.
