Optical accordion lattices are routinely used in quantum simulation and quantum computation experiments to tune optical lattice spacings. Here, we present a technique for creating tunable optical lattices using binary-phase transmission gratings. Lattices generated using this technique have high uniformity, contrast, lattice spacing tunability, and power efficiencies.

To analyze patients' quality of life (QOL) after laser vision correction (LVC) from a worldwide literature review. Studies of prospective or cross-sectional design which evaluated QOL in patients after LVC and compared that to preoperative values or a matched group of emmetropes were included. The Web of Science, PubMed, Scopus, and ProQuest were searched for relevant articles published until February 2024.

Background: Adjuvants use several mechanisms to boost immunogenicity and to modulate immune response. The strength of adsorption of antigen by adjuvants can be a determinant factor for significant improvement of immunopotentiation.

Methods: We expressed recombinant RBD-FC in PichiaPink Strain 4 and examined the vaccination of mice by vaccine formulation with different adjuvants (sodium alginate and aluminum hydroxide, alone and together).

Background: Today, antibiotics are widely used for treatment and feed additives to enhance livestock growth. Antibiotic residues may be found in food of animal origin for various reasons, including ignoring the withdrawal period after treatment, overuse for animals, and contamination of feed with treated animals in animal products. Among animal products, dairy products have a special place in the human diet, and antibiotic residues in them have caused a great deal of concern among consumers.

Environmental pollution is growing every day in terms of the increase in population, industrialization, and urbanization. Shewanella azerbaijanica is introduced as a highly potent bacterium in metal bioremediation. The mtrC gene was selected as a cloning target to improve electron flux chains in the EET (extracellular electron transfer) pathway.

In this study, a proper and reliable fluorometric method is introduced for screening acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and its inhibitors, using carbon quantum dots (CQDs) as the signal reporter. Pure, S-doped, and P-doped CQDs, were synthesized and their recoverable fluorescence quenching properties were observed, when exposed to Hg, Cu, and Fe quenching ions, respectively. The study on the recovery of their emission showed that after the introduction of another guest substance with a stronger affinity to the quenching ions, their fluorescence is restored.

The receptor binding domain (RBD) plays a pivotal role in the viral entry as it enables the engagement of severe acute respiratory syndrome 2 (SARS-CoV-2) with the human angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptor for host cell entry. RBD is the major target for developing viral inhibitors and vaccines. Expression of recombinant RBD in E.

Article Synopsis
  • Lichen planopilaris (LPP) is a rare scalp condition leading to hair loss, and the effectiveness of treatment combinations like methotrexate and corticosteroids hasn't been clearly established.
  • A clinical trial involving 28 patients tested the efficacy of methotrexate alone versus methotrexate combined with corticosteroids, measuring outcomes through a specific activity index and patient symptoms.
  • Results indicated no significant differences in effectiveness or side effects between the two treatment approaches, suggesting that both methotrexate and the combination therapy are similarly safe and effective.
